30F and cloudy before sunrise, expected high of 39F. Late winter surprise approximately fifteen degrees F below normal for this time of year over the next four to five days. Smoking Uhle's #300 in an MM Country Gent, drinking Trader Joe's coffee, listening to ESPN radio and getting ready for a nice walk at daybreak.

Watch City Slice in a smooth 1/4 bent straight grain pre-merger GBD Century Conquest author. Nice combo. This pipe has "10" stamped on the shank. I've never been able to track down any significance but it meant something to somebody at sometime. Drinking Leinenkugel's Summer Shandy and watching college basketball.

Just finished working 60 1/2 hours up to this afternoon. Went outside, fed the birds, then went into the garage for a bowl of RLP-6 in one of my MM cobs. It is in the 30's here in New Jersey, and the wind is honking today. We are being told we could get a nice nor'easter here around Tuesday, so I guess I better get some smoking done before then.
Tomorrow I will pull the generator out of the garage and fire it up just in case. Of course all the knuckleheads will be at thee grocery store buying milk, bread, and eggs. Now there is a good question, who makes french toast every time a storm is forecast, or is that just a coincidence? We really have not had much snow here this year, and I wonder if mother nature is going to make up for that?
Being so close to the ocean, we are often on the wrong side (or right side depending on your opinion) of the rain / snow line on coastal storms. I have seen some whoppers over the years with both rain and snow. Wind here is always a real issue, we are right on the bay separating us from Atlantic City with about 3 miles of bay and meadows which does nothing to mitigate the wind. Several years ago we got nailed two years in a row with hurricanes and nor'easters, and one year a "Derachio" that really clobbered us. Over the years we have been out of electricity for many, many days.
We always have food stocked up, gas fireplace ready, plenty of batteries, so I suppose as long as my pipe tobacco and my cigars stay dry we will be OK.
So everyone on the east cost from the Carolina's up to New England stay aware, prepare if by tomorrow or tomorrow night the "forecasters" have a more concise and dire prediction. Keep your tobacco and your matches dry.
See you on the other side.
