I will be in chat most of the evening. Stop on in.
The sad reality is that in a normal year, I would be packing to head back to Buffalo for the next 2 weeks. We would be occupied by an endless agenda of shopping and cooking with Mom, having friends, family, and extended family stop over, and general holiday excitement. As I know it is for many of you, it will be very very different for us this year. Essentially that means you are all stuck with me, and this will be the closest outlet I have to what we will be missing this year.
No pity expected, but I sure expect to see plenty of your arses in chat over the next few weeks to keep me company, lol

In chat tonight. Home Alone on the TV, a glass of wine soon to be replaced by Scotch, and a bowl of good tobacco. Hope to see some of you in a bit.

We have been just our little family for Christmas for the last 10 years. We've come to like it that way. Just the 3 of us are good against the world. I would hate to be alone, though.

Luckily I'm not totally alone, but certainly used to many many more people.
I agree though, Ron. I couldn't imagine being totally alone.

Sorry to miss last night. Hopefully catch some of you tonight. It's a weird sort of Christmas holiday this year. Ordering some gifts online, Amazon or elsewhere, and sending them to friends and family instead of seeing them. Certainly not the same. Most of them telling us they could care less this year, but feel like we need to do something and say we are thinking about them. Wife has even gotten to having groceries delivered by Whole Foods rather than go to the market where she says some people show up without masks. Most are kicked out, fortunately, but you just don't know anymore. I wonder if this is what London was like during the Blitz.

Good for you for trying to make Christmas actually feel like Christmas. Like a lot of people, glad 2020 is almost over and optimistic about 2021.

Ok guys what is the purpose of have a chat thing? I don't understand the concept. Well if it is like the discussions on the fourm then why do you do it.
Well guess its time to resume lurker mode and talk to the ๐ ๐ฑ ๐ ๐ฑ. Being alone has it advantages.

Well guess its time to resume lurker mode and talk to the ๐ ๐ฑ ๐ ๐ฑ. Being alone has it advantages. The chatroom just gives people the chance to have real time conversations with each other. Granted, it's still behind a computer screen, but you can often get a better feel for someone's personality when it isn't restricted to a blurb at a time.

That's why I don't go on the chat. Familiarity breeds contempt. I don't want you guys to get to know me that well. ๐

Good folks go there. Sometimes itโs a little like Old Home week and hard for a newbie to follow, but itโs all in good fellowship.

Hey y'all.
I was thinking that the chat session could be combined with a Zoom session, in which we could smoke in front of each other's faces as God intended.

Hey y'all. I was thinking that the chat session could be combined with a Zoom session, in which we could smoke in front of each other's faces as God intended. Not to sound lke negative Ned, but I personally don''t want to look at other faces in a digital world. A pipe club meeting at a brick and mortar is cool, but online does nothing for me. That might be a generational response.

I respect Charlie's position, but I also understand others might be interested in this. I'm not opposed to the idea. If we get a group that wants to give it a go, I'll plan one.

I'm all for Zoom chats! It took me a short time to get comfortable with it. You learn to feel things out and with a smaller group conversation becomes as natural as in person. For me the key is a quiet place, good camera position and microphone. Make the mute button your friend! It's great to hang out with other pipe collectors from all over the country (and sometimes the world) who otherwise you would only see a few times a year at shows.
