Yes, please.
I guess pie would be the prefered item. Although, I have seen some grand cakes in my day.

For me there needs to be more definition... What kind of pie are we taking about? Apple? Steak and kidney?
What kind of cake are we taking about?
If I'm out for dinner I'd take an apple pie over a cake any day...but I'd take a cake over steak and kidney pie any day.

Most North Americans would be thinking apple, cherry, pumpkin.... Sorry mate.

I'm happy with sweet pie, but there are quite a lot of savoury ones here...steak and kidney being one of the most popular...gross.

Pecan Pie, but that’s a no no for me, never was a guy to eat sweets, later in life with wife’s sweet tooth that changed, paying the price now.

Yes, but can I get a serving of bread pudding with a bourbon vanilla sauce to go with it?
Being a Type II Diabetic, I shouldn't eat pies or cakes - or ice cream, cookies, brownies, doughnuts, etc., but my doctor has been telling me for 20 years that it is okay if I occasionally have a dessert. I prefer bread pudding but will eat a slice of pecan or pumpkin pie. I like a good German Chcolate cake.
But the real question is, "Is cheesecake a cake or a pie?"

I like cake but my wife did make a wonderful coconut custard pie for Tgiving. Caramel sauce and whipped cream on top. Delightful.

Pie
Nothing beats a fresh fruit pie with a great flaky crust. At get together’s with others, I never eat cake, and we never make cake at the house.

After our annual dry turkey last year, we discovered turkey pot pies.
I can't see turkey cake working, so pie it is.

Mmm.. pie. I always make a pumpkin habanero pie for my birthday as I am no fan of cake. For Thanksgiving this year, I made an egg nog pie.

Used to have Pecan pies all the time. My father in law owned a pecan farm in western New Mexico. But my all timer favorite is apple pie. With vanilla ice cream. Nowadays though, nothing at all as I am trying to bring my weight down.

Pie every time! My wife's apple pie is even better than my mom's - I didn't think that was even possible but I'm sure not complaining!

Pie definitely. Soooo many flavors. Cherry, rhubarb, strawberry rhubarb, apple, pecan, pumpkin, peanut butter, lemon, banana cream .....
I seem to remember my grandmother making raisin pie. It was great.
Vinegar pie - not so much.
