One of my favorites in this genre is Dead Calm from 1989. Interesting story and the first movie I ever saw Nicole Kidman in. Billy Zane is super creepy too.

I could not classify it as A "Shipwreck" in the sense of the grand Liner going down. More of a personal failure or challenge among Yachtsmen.

Gilligan, Robinson, Swiss Family, that is the Survival Genre. You can add to that "Mysterious Island" which was a lot of fun for me. Balloon wrecks count.
Shipwrecks are just that. That old sinking feeling followed by taking to the boats. Two different sets of challenges creating differing dramatic stories.

The Cruel Sea, from Nicholas Monserrat's incredible WW2 novel of the same name. Not true shipwreck, but a sinking and cold, cold North Atlantic water.

More often than not, the movies are nowhere near as good as the book, and it has to be quite a challenge with a 2 hour window.

The movie Director and Producers were so faithful to the book, when I read it I can only imagine the actors from the movie. Perhaps the best movie and book about the UK in WWII and I have seen and read many. The civilian story told as well as the military personnel.
