For some reason I’m craving something sweet. Drove to the local store and picked up a bag of wine gums to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Wild caught Atlantic Salmon filets. Fresh not frozen. Arrived Denver yesterday morning at arrived at Taos by noon. Bought by me in PM and cooked today. Iron pan grilled in clarified butter and olive oil. Lightly done. Parsley, Italian, and lime drizzle. Salt and pepper. Just amazing. These are filets from near the head which I prefer over the tail section. Pricey? Yes. Worth it? Once in a while. Need more Salmon in my life but will rely on cheaper filets. There is nothing like fresh Salmon. I miss the days of landing on the average 25# Salmon apiece off of Moss landing on my buddies boat. Just a few hours on the water I would have over 100 pounds. It was so plentiful, i gave most of it away, what I would give to have one of them. The best recipe I ever had was stuffing a whole Salmon with fresh grape leaves, and cooking on the grill....it was heaven. Frozen/ farm raised just isn't the same...but I can get fairly decent wild caught from Costco. I get the Monterey Bay thing. I used to fish from a boat about 5 to 7 miles offshore the Golden Gate. We would hook the salmon. Filet and eat sashimi right there. Then grill at home that night. THose were the days.

I have many fond memories of my salmon fishing with my uncle Rickey and my grandpa Richard with charted boats from sams on the Monterey wharf. Sadly they are all mostly whale watching boats now. I went out of San Francisco a handful of times with my uncle yoshi. Their real is nothing quit like well it was swimming a about a hour ago fresh seafood. I had my first taste of sashimi when I was 5 from one of those fishing trips and been hooked on sashimi and sushi ever since. I miss is bad.

When you went out of SF, did you guys go out to the Farralon Islands? I heard it is good fishing, but often the swells are so crazy there that you go from looking at water surround you to being pitched high above it. Thinking of it almost makes me seasick. I never got my sea legs, I was sick every time we left the harbor.

Been out there for sailboat races not for fishing.

This morning it was a "Good Food Made Simple" brand Uncured bacon Breakfast Burrito made with bacons, eggs, cheese, potatoes, peppers and salsa. Apparently, in Wellesley, Massachusetts they know a thing or two about burritos. All this time I thought they were just about highly educated, extra classy, refined young ladies who, at one time, became Librarians but are now Lawyers and Judges.

Big beef ribs in the Crock pot. Just the ribs no sauce no extra water. All I want is the slow heat until they start to separate from the bone and the fat melts into the meat. I have better ways to finish them.

Interesting reading for me, esp if many of those words I've never even heard of. Brunch for us not longer da wifie makes her appearance. The usual of 4 eggs, mangled ham slices & helpings of shred sharp cheddar, all in "griddle" part of GeoForeman grill, sides of k-cup decaf (her) cocoa (me) & finish the paper. Unknown what activities to do later

Y’day’s brunch... Usually I have a piece of toast for b’fast and then do a brunch thing around noonish or late morning. Y’day it was the more-or-less usual: toasted and lightly buttered tortillas, elk burger, grilled slice of jicama, two fried eggs topped with black bean and corn salsa. All hot stuff, save tortillas, done together on a no-stick skillet. Sweet tea for beverage. This holds me well ‘til an early supper, or lupper. (A word I have just learned.)

That is almost as much as I eat in an entire day! I hope it holds you through the afternoon. Looks great. Nice combination of flavors. Colorful, too!
