Today is my son's 33rd birthday. As a coincidence it's the birthday of another Texan, a little guy named Audie Murphy. I wish we had more people like him in Hollywood.

Say homes.....this math ain't working. I was married long after you and my youngest of three is 33! But then again, you probably planned things better than me. I was 22 when my firstborn came along and not paid very well...it was tough going in them days, but regardless God provided. Wish your son a happy birthday from me and I agree with your sentiments. Audie Murphy's generation faced the Axis Powers, the current Hollywood generation faced physical discomfort once or twice on set...a different type of evil I reckon.

What a day! Temperature topped out at 77F while at the office. I participated in our first “Father’s Day Cup” with the boys. Shot an even 72 (par) to lose the cup by one stroke. Oh well, next year. 😁🏌️♂️

We had a cool front blow through this afternoon during our nap. 73 now and tomorrow looks perfect for mowing the yard.

Had to take the dog to the vet today. Said she had a torn tendon in her left rear knee. Doctor wouldn't come out to talk to us. She got pain pills so we'll see how she does and make an appointment with her regular vet.

Didn't make it to the Patch last night. Catching up now, I noticed we didn't hear from Ed. Hope all's well.

Yesterday the boyz got a good long run along the creek, their first in a few days with dad working on improving his sit-on-his-butt record. This morning, at 67°, I sat at Command Central (the big round clawfoot dining table) finishing up last night's House pipe and watching Eli ricochet from front and back windows looking for... anything that moves. Jack in the bedroom having his after-brekkie snooze. Life is good!

Big drama on the irrigation system this morning. 0555. telephone call from the most remote irrigator calling about his 80 acres of oats. No water. Ditch Rider (me) leaped from bed, dressed and flew out the door, leaping onto my trusty ATV and off in a cloud of dust. It takes time to search miles of ditch and check all of the diversion gates. Sure enough, some low down dirty varmint snuck out and opened his gate during the night to illegally divert water meant for others onto his place. He will be dealt with.... harshly.
People pull guns on each other for this kind of thing. THey beat each other with shovels. I have seen two deaths here over the past 25 years over water stealing. It is no joke. Part of my job is maintaining the peace.

Morning everyone. It’s another hot one (for us) this morning as temperature already at 73 and rising. We’re expected to top out at 83 later today. On a different note, today’s my weekly lunch date with mom and I suspect she’ll want Chinese again. Oh joy…..😕

First and last time. Her regular vet was booked through Thursday and we wanted to get her checked. At least she got pain meds. She seems to be improving. We'll see. Surgery is $1k-6k. A brace is $900

after all of the above stories, glad to have always had city water/sewer no matter where. We think our rates to be reasonable, Right around $60 every 4 months, includes both. No complaints

No complaints Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY That's really cheap. I guess being near the Great Lakes helps. Even with all the water we have, it still runs 75 bucks a month. Trash hauling is another $28.

I had to replace the 2 26" blades on the mower. It was still cutting, but I don't know how. Whole chunks were missing. Mowed about a third of the yard today and I'll finish what I can tomorrow.

Just had a birthday party for my middle child - 28 years old. Hamburgers and Nathan's hot dogs on the grill. Mother-in-law brought some great side dishes. Ice cream cake. Opened 4 bottles of wine. Great get-together.

Started the day in the backyard with pipe and coffee. Cooler day here, perfect weather for limbing up/trimming a couple magnolias and another tall shrub. Will continue on more tomorrow. Talked to benefits rep about retiree health insurance, jarred some tobacco, and napped after dinner.
