Very nice greenhouse...is it double pained to retain the interior heat? Nope. Here we mostly worry about getting rid of the heat. I will wrap the sides with plastic and put a tarp over the top when the cold weather hits.

Bob, I’ve played every sport out there: football, rugby, hockey etc up to the collegiate level. Golf is the only sport where I’ve been plagued with so many injuries. I just don’t get it. 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️

As for me, just back from first PCR test after being pinged by the track and trace team.

Another cold, wet day here in the PNW. Going to hunker down by the fireplace and have a low key day. Happy Friday for those of you who are still working.

Cool and rainy in SE Michigan, too. I'll be spending much of the day in the cave. Going to visit a local B&M - cigar/glass/vape shop (LOL), and a local restaurant to pick up shawarma for dinner.

28° this morning so this will be our first "real" fall weekend. I have guests coming for the deer archery season. My friend brings his 11YO and his bow for a week of father-son woodland/prairie fun and bonding. They are bringing their travel trailer and will plug into my RV facilities. I'm a sucker for father/son hunting teams as I think it is critical to encourage youth in the outdoor lifestyle. Plus, they always eat it up and are fun to watch. I've pared down hunting permissions on my place pretty much to those that have kids along. My friend, a long time hunter, is not hunting, just along to help and mentor his son. I'll get a big kick out of knowing how happy they are to be here.

Nebraska is very generous with youngster licenses and they are well affordable. On the other hand, if you wanna come yourself I have a dedicated guest room (the Michael Collins Room and it's available at no charge. Guide services included!

Nebraska? All this time I thought you were in Wyoming or the Dakotas or something. Wyoming, Dakotas, Western Nebraska, same thing almost. When you think of us, don't think of corn fields and midwestern idylls. Think cattle, big sky, and desolate country. That will get you in the ballpark.

On the other hand, if you wanna come yourself I have a dedicated guest room (the Michael Collins Room and it's available at no charge. Guide services included! Couple of years ago I had an experience with a state mandated "Youth Hunt". Sipping coffee on Saturday morning and suddenly barrage of gun fire erupts. Dozens of shots fired. I ran outside into the pasture to the sound of bullets whizzing past. The horses, sheep and goats were running in circles in panic. Am elk doe and two calves were hit and squirming. I was screaming cease fire and waving my arms. Called 911 and Game and FIsh on the cell phone. Eventually three teenage boys at the front gate wanting to claim the writhing and spinning elk in my pasture. I pointed out this is posted property and the Game Warden is on his way here. Seeing they were just kids who did not know better, I suggested they leave the crime scene before law enforcement arrives. A neighbor who was getting gasoline a half mile away pulled up and leaped from his truck with a pistol drawn. He wanted to know where the bad guys were since it seemed I was in a gun battle with someone. He counted over 20 rounds fired. He came onto my place and we put down the writhing wounded elk. They were shot to pieces but not in the vitals. What a mess. Game wardens arrived and conducted and investigation, pulling the bullets out of the dead elk and placing them in evidence bags. I gave the elk to my neighbor. The kids I never saw again. They were supposed to have adult supervision but had not anyone with them. I have more signs up and pray this never happens again! Very different from the Deer hunts when I was young. Landowner permission in writing. Five, maybe eights, rounds taken for the day total. A few shots fired and a deer in the back of the truck.

Your neighbors are more civilized, I guess. I have neighbors who have lost sheep, goats, horses to hunter's wild shooting. Houses here often have bullet holes in them. One old couple has had to take to their floor with wild rounds coming in. We are trying to get an ordinance passed preventing hunting in the village boundaries but no luck so far.

Good luck with the ordinance. I have NO patience with bad hunters. People here are used to shooting elk from their back porches. They will fire across their neighbors property and at their home. No discretion whatsoever.

In Nebraska there is no need to post your property. Trespassing is defined as being on someone's property without their specific permission, whether or not it is posted. Trespassing is an arrestible, prison-and-fine offense here. If the property IS posted a trespasser is a "defiant trespasser" and the penalties get pretty severe.

No discretion whatsoever. Get one of your friends with a backhoe... dig a nice deep hole in the ground...fill it with the arrogant "hunters", back fill and now no more arse**les on your property.

In other news, I jarred up 5 lbs. of tobacco this evening. Three Friars, Newminster 400 and Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye Flake. Also added a few tins of Orlik Golden Sliced tins, Exhausted Rooster cans and Five o'clock Shadow cans to the cellar.

Did some yard work and put the covers over to tubing for the new mini-split AC. Started digging a trench for the wire to the greenhouse but ran out of steam.
