Rain and the skies growling got my Chihuahua dropped off at the groomers and she is not happy about it. Momma is still asleep. Still need to put the new headlight bulbs in but alas I am lazy.

Warm day today, hopefully not too windy. Doing some more sorting and packing, and studying for my Easter message tomorrow, my last message to the church.

81° here just after noon. It’ll be close to 90 before the day is done. Great day to take the dogs down to the creek. Meanwhile, Eli is enjoying some meditation on his deck...

Dang Blast It!
Lost my last set of truck keys.
Searching for hours.
I can get the ignition turned on with a skeleton as the key switch is so worn.
The keys to the gas cap lock, tool box, and other locks are gone. Rats!
I can take the locking gas cap off with a Channel Lock but it is annoying.
Cannot replace the keys because no locksmiths are not open owing to you know what. The hardware stores have trouble making anything good happen with keys. Equipment worn-out and staff indifferent.
What a Revolting Development this is!!!

Well, dang, John. I thought losing keys was MY job. They always turn up, eventually. You sure the cats didn’t make off with them? It’s not funny. I know the frustration— and know all about looking in the same places a dozen times. Good luck!

He wanted a ride so he is incentivized to return them. I am wondering if the dog or the magpies picked them up? It happens. They should have turned up by now with all the searching of clothes, house, yard, truck.

Would that be nice? Not possible here. It takes key blanks. No ford dealer, no key blanks.

My prediction about 90° today was wrong. It only made 87, with 10% humidity. But I did take the dogs down to the creek. Clear Creek runs for about 500 straight-line yards on my place, but since it is a twisty-turny, convoluted prairie creek it runs about 5000 feet. Today’s was the longest creek run for the boys yet and we covered over half the length, right up to where it gets so cattail-marshy that we couldn’t go any further. They had a great time and once again I managed to tucker them out something fierce.
I have a good friend who is coming out with his wife for a visit from the East in late May. (He is also a gunny.) I sent him a copy of the 2021 edition of A TRAVELER’S GUIDE TO THE GUN LAWS OF THE FIFTY STATES. I have relied on these since 2003 or 2004. Written by a lawyer, they are well worth owning by anyone who carries out of their own state. Every state does it their own way. For example, do you know in which states it is a misdemeanor to fail to inform an LEO immediately on contact that you are carrying? Some require it, some don’t. Or, which states allow a loaded rifle in the cab and which don’t? Or what the rules are for carrying in a bar or restaurant? I heartily recommend this book. It’s a great way for an armed traveler to stay out of jail. Amazon carries it for about $16. A very good investment.

I love the pic of your dog sunning himself on the porch doing what he does best, looking out for the master. He just doesn’t know it, but he is the master I reckon. That is a great book and in all things, and always have a current copy, because state laws are changing so quickly. Just since old Joe became President, 4 states realized that they needed constitutional carry. We are waiting to see if our governor has the balls to sign us up as a 2nd amendment Sanctuary state. Having said all of that, if you have a smart phone and ever travel, get the CCW app by Workman consulting LLC. Dirt cheap, accurate, and you always have on you. rightapp.net/wp/ccw/

No. I do not. I have searched the yard where the truck is parked and up to the front gate. Have you seen any suspicious jackelopes hanging around the place? No. My neighbor's Labrador Retriever is on the suspect list. He is the type to grab, run and drop things with my scent on them. Shoes, gloves, caps. I love the dope but he can be annoying. The key ring has a leather fob which has been there for over 20 years. I imagine it has me all over it. Just rose from a nap. Search is suspended until daylight. When I find these M.F.s I am adding a lanyard.

Asking for divine guidance has helped me several times when hitting dead ends. Someday, I may figure to start out that way.

That is the plan. I will shortly renew the search by moving furniture.
Divine Guidance always welcome.

Speaking of divine guidance John, I have a friend who swears by St. Anthony the patron saint of lost items. The prayer goes thus: "Dear St. Anthony please come around [name what is lost] is lost and it cannot be found." "St. Anthony, perfect imitator of Jesus, who received from God the special power of restoring lost things, grant that I may find [name what is lost] which has been lost.“
It can’t hurt.

As we speak, I gaze at San Antonio Mountain in the distance. A beacon for the lost as it is the largest freestanding (lone) peak in North America. St. Anthony has a special meaning to me, largely because of Father Alfred Boedekker. St. Anthony's Dining Hall in San Francisco has long fed the hungry and lost before it was fashionable. Probably the kindest man I have ever known. "if you are hungry come to St. Anthony's and we will give you a meal. If you are not perhaps you can spare some?"
