My two tins of SG FVF arrived today. Unfortunately the vacuum sealed lid was compromised and both tins of tobacco completely dried out. Called my b&m and replacement tins on the way. I wouldn't trash them Ted, they could be lightly rehydrated most likely. I find FVF served best dried to a crisp anyhow. Edit - Now you've got me wanting to pull a tin out of my micro-cellar

Edit - Now you've got me wanting to pull a tin out of my micro-cellar I thought about it Jason but the tobacco is extremely brittle and really can’t pack it. It’s currently in the mail going back to my b&m. Appreciate your comment though.😁👍

Mail call. Thanks to beardedmi turning me on to modern production Kaywoodie pipes a couple years ago, my second one showed up today. Just arrived from a good auction win is this unsmoked 2010 Kaywoodie Shellcraft Natural oval shank blasted Billiard. I never got into vintage Kaywoodies because I hate the stinger and metal screw in tenon. Modern Kaywoodies have standard push tenons and are good quality smokers at a very good price. (The standard lines can be found starting at $40 to 50 and high grade lines starting at $100.) A full set of pics can be found here: imgur.com/a/wnGFia1

I love the way the grain lines wrap the bowl.

Still not very much energy today. Slept in, had coffee and a pipe on the back porch. Mowed the lawn and went inside to rest. Went back out and cleaned up a flower bed near the deck. Had a couple pipes and a beer. Went in and took a 2 hour nap.

Pfizer. The sore arm and achiness actually cleared up by yesterday evening. I just feel tired and have a very mild headache

My Peterson House Pipe arrived today. I thought the Pub pipe was big— and it is— but the House pipe tops it. Chamber is a tad under 1” diameter and 2-1/4” deep. SHown here with a Pete Standard 304 for comparison.

Pub on top, House, and Pete Army-mount Rhodesian for scale. The House pipe’s chamber is both wider and deeper than the Pub’s. Feels great in the hand, too. Hangs well without breaking your jaw.

Should warn folks that do not yet have a BIG pipe— they may spoil you. While it's all good, the top 1/3 of the bowl is extravagantly pleasant. They are addictive...

Is that considered a Zulu?

The big bowls work well for me with English and Aromatics, and in the case of English it just gets better through the smoke. If I load a large bowl of Virginia’s it just doesn’t cut the mustard. That is just my experience.

That is a beaut, Dino! Is that considered a Zulu? It's a "Horn" style, similar to a Alpha Citation Horn

A ridiculous amount of aged tobacco. A very good friend realized a couple years ago that his tastes had changed. He waited a while to be sure and is now revamping his cellar. He offered me a really good good friend's deal that I couldn’t refuse on some of my favorites. Everything is 4+ years old. Leo is my desert island favorite blend and hasn’t been made in 8 years.
