Tim O'Brien's take on an old Bob Dylan tune. IMHO Dylan was a poetic genius, but his tunes always sound better when performed by others.

No one can match Dylan in delivery. I dismiss all pretenders.

I had this LP back in 1970. Perhaps Duane Allman's best work on guitar? Saw the Bozman with Steve Miller Band a few times then off on his own.

No one can match Dylan in delivery. I dismiss all pretenders. My brother and I spent a LOT of time on the road in the late 60s. I remember coming back from Louisiana late one night and we were listening to his large collection of 8-track tapes. He grabbed the Bob Dylan tape one time too many. He threw it out the window of his 68 Olds 98, stopped and backed up and ran over it, twice. Dylan's voice could be very polarizing.

Dylan covers? There's always room for Aoife O'Donovan!

Dylan covers? There's always room for Aoife O'Donovan! Yes--always room for her. But "Little Sadie" was not written by Bob Dylan. In fact, the first known recording of the tune was in 1929--well before Dylan was born.

Now here is Aoife's pal Sarah Jarosz doing a fine Dylan tune--"Ring Them Bells." By the way--that's an octave mandolin she is playing--like a regular mandolin, but a bit larger and tuned an octave lower. This video inspired me so much--I ended up buying an octave mandolin.

Heh. Now if I come up with Sarah Watkins playing with The Decemberists doing Dylan! I saw Sarah Jerosz solo at a festival. It was a daytime, second stage, short set, but she was great!

Also, yes, I knew it wasn't really a Dylan song, but his arrangement is the first one a lot of folks know.
Edit: Also, also, when I saw Sarah Jarosz, she did "Shankhill Butchers," so you can get back to the other Sarah through The Decemberists, but no Dylan. Sorry, the mind is wandering.

Box Scaggs came on my radar about the time he came out with Silk Degrees…My experience with the Allman brothers band goes farther back than that, always loved Boz music, this was like finding a hidden gem. Greg Kihn once opined that Boz talking voice was the same as his singing voice… that “honk” tone… he said it was quite unusual.

I always get a bit misty eyed, from the perspective of being a son, and a father.

My favorite version of this song. Love the way they play off of each other. Love BB King's facial expressions.

I keep my truck radio on Classic Vinyl and every time I drive by Don Henley's childhood home across the street from the grocery store there is An Eagles song playing.

In the early 80’s I was delivering the Toll House hotel in Los Gatos, Ca. and saw him exiting the bus. Years later, got to very briefly meet him at the truck roadeo finals in Memphis, we hung out at his restaurant on Beale Street, he had a great house band playing there, and the food was scrumptious.
