Back in the day - before Covid - the local B&M where we held the New Orleans Pipe Club meetings would get two or three good size shipments of Esoterica blends each year. They would generally wait and put everything out on a table for the next pipe club meeting before putting it on the shelf. And, they sold it at their normal retail price. The only problem was that it was hit or miss on which blends they B&M will get and what size.

As many Esoterica blends as I have smoked, and I think I've had a bowl or two of everything but Stonehaven, the only one I go out of my way to look for is Margate. All the rest either didn't interest me, or were just "meh". I have about 3 pounds stored up of Margate, and one or two other misc tins, but that's it. Never pay more than retail, although that differs depending on what state you're in, and I pick it up when I can. If I could find a shag cut English that hit the same notes as Margate, I would probably stop looking even for that just to save time and energy.

If you are a true collector of rare and hard to find blends, then the chase is part of the fun.
