When I checked into the hospital they asked me if I smoked cigarettes..No I said..They never mentioned pipes..Now I wonder...Do they consider pipe smoking less of a problem,or do they think there's so few of us that there's no need to mention it?

I don't think they think about the pipe at...my Doctors only know because I told them; they'd like me to give it up , but I keep telling them they'd be passing out pipes to their pack a day smokers, if they knew what I know... I ask em, which is worse...20 to 30 coffin nails a day, inhaled...or 2 to 3 pipe bowls a day, not inhaled??? They just look at me like I'm crazy. It's all or nothing with those guys! Be glad you didn't tell em!!!

I get asked about tobacco and now vape use in general at every medical appointment. I’m not addicted to nicotine and I always answer No! I always wear freshly laundered clothes and have never been called out.

If I’m ever “caught” by whiff I will blame my old neighbor who comes over to visit and brings his pipe.

I wonder about this when it comes to health insurance. What counts as "smoking" for their purposes?
From what I've read, the definition they go by is: use of any tobacco product 4+ times a week within the past 6 months.

If I lied and said that I was a smoker, it would cost me $260.00 more monthly on my medical plan.
Glad I stopped smoking.
Man, I miss the Teamster benefits. I knew we had gold plated healthcare, I never knew that the gold plate was an inch thick until I left.

I knew we had gold plated healthcare, I never knew that the gold plate was an inch thick until I left. The thing I worry about, though, is what happens when I come down with something and the docs say, "Hey, this guy definitely smokes something," and the insurance company tells me, "You're on your own, bud. Our lawyers will be in touch about your insurance fraud."

It is just a matter of time that the digital overlords like Suckerturd colludes with big healthcare and shares all the data mining that goes on. Pictures or comments about smoking are linked to your IP address, or even if you use a VPN, they will put pieces of the puzzle together to enrich themselves at your cost.

15 years ago my doctor asked if I smoked. I said that I smoked a pipe, to which she responded, "Oh. Okay." When pressed, she told me that the only group that considered pipe smokers "smokers" were insurance companies. So now I say "Nope!"

Over here, the common question is, 'do you smoke?', or 'are you a smoker or non-smoker?' I reply, 'no, I don't smoke cigarettes.'

Haven’t been asked by med people. Yet. If and when my reply would be “I quit smoking in 1985.”

I have never smoked cigarettes. Of course, I've also never ingested marijuana in any form. I have also never hijacked an airplane or instigated a revolution in a small, unnamed, South American country.
I am a boring, stodgy, stick in the mud sort of fellow.

Being a considerate guy, I don't burden the insurance industry or healthcare community with any information or extra paperwork involving my habits.

Specially when having health issues and you want them to fix you. I also like "Do you drink alcoholic beverages?"
