Wondering how much of a favorite tabac to keep on hand. I just ordered another pound of Sutliff Z92, my daily smoke. That will bring me up to 3 pounds. Excessive?

As long as you like it, not excessive. If your tastes change, it could be a disappointment. All I have to say is 10 lbs. of ODF.

Doubling down on Justin’s comment. It’s not excessive if you enjoy it! Cheers brother......

qmechanics, CrustyCat - I'm open to unloading some of this. Please bear in mind, it's the ODF Ready Rubbed, NOT the flake, and it's been repackaged into 8 oz. heat-sealed Mylar bags. All of it has about 5 years of age on it.

It's pretty easy to get weighed down by stuff you're just not going to smoke anytime soon that it's hard to focus buying up a favorite.

Three pounds doesn't sound excessive to me. I have at least a pound of most of my favorites and I have more than three favorites!

I am a minimalist.
Anything more than an ounce could end up in a fire.

I have more than a pound of some of my Favorites on hand. One in particular codger blend I have nearly 4 pounds of between my stash here and at my cabin.

Excessive is very subjective. Grace Jones once said, "Too much is never enough."

I have around 30 pounds or so stashed in my cellar. I had to whittle my buying list down to about 10 blends that I always keep on hand and have at least one jar of each open at any one time.

Wondering how much of a favorite tabac to keep on hand. I just ordered another pound of Sutliff Z92, my daily smoke. That will bring me up to 3 pounds. Excessive? Good question. Just looking at my spreadsheet, my largest holding is about 4 pounds of Gawith FVF. 3 pounds of Esoterica Margate, and 2 of Gawith BBF.

I am indeed. I don't notice much of a difference, TBH.

I only buy (can afford) 50g of tobacco each month. I've amassed quite a few tins which I will open at the appropriate time. I've far too many open already.
Of course the danger of that is that I might open a tin of my new favourite, only to find it's no longer made...That's the risk I have to take.
Pounds of tobacco is a pipe dream for me (see what I did there?).

Tastes do change over time. But I have large amounts of ODF myself as well as Latakia Flake. I move through that slowly as I continue to find new tobaccos I like as much.

All I can say is that I wish I had bought more than 14 tins of FMC.

Tobaccos that are favorites I use a pound as a minimum in the cellar. The upper limit depends on circumstances. If the blend will be unavailable in the future, I’ll buy several pounds, same with blends that will benefit from aging. Examples are WC Off the Rails and PS LBF. Since my recent retirement, I’m planning to curtail my purchases to maintain domestic tranquillity. Not to worry, the cellar is well stocked and has a 10 year cushion. It’s time to smoke it down a bit.

Since I'm just getting back into it, I don't really have a feel for how much I might cellar, or of what. I know already I like OGS, so I've put a few tins of that by. I know from previous experience I tend to like Virginias and VA/Pers, and those benefit from aging, so I've got a bit extra of a couple of those.
Nothing that would be measured in pounds, though.
