Does anyone know if the tags on the bottom of Dan Tobacco blends decode to dates? I got a tin of Midnight Ride. It has a price-tag style tag on the bottom that says "208.34". (I'm not entirely sure the dot is there. Hard to tell.)
The first 4 digits could be 8/3/20, but then I have a superfluous "4" that I don't know what to do with.

Don't know. I hear there's all kinds of dating apps, but I've been married since before the internet. You might try Tinder.

I have a bunch of older tins and I don’t have an answer but I think there are clues in tin size/style in the CAO era (RIP Cano) which ended around 2006. If yours doesn’t have the CAO logo on the tin it’s newer post 2006ish. Enjoy!

I have no idea. I date from the time I purchase a tobacco. But if I don't buy it I have no clue. I imagine though it's like most things. The further back you go, the less of an audit trail you'll find.

Thanks, briarbuck. So the upshot seems to be you can roughly date tins by their shape, size, and branding, but nobody knows what the codes means.

You could reach out to www.dantobacco.de/en/165-2/From my past experience ordering from Danpipe years ago they spoke very good English. I’m guessing it’s a production code that probably has a date imbedded. I bought mine for the tin art in the mid 90’s but I was to lazy to write a date on the tins. Sleuthing the mysteries of the hobby can be frustrating but fun. Steve is a buddy and probably knows the general era’s but but I doubt he knows anything about reading a production sticker.
