It's 5 hours drive from here. I don't think that you can get there from your place. 😁🤠

I never saw a contraption like that Brad, but in theory, I guess it would work. Offset fire, indirect cooking.
A door on the front with automatic dampers would be a fun experiment.

Pig Roasts (spit-roasted over charcoal) was a very common and popular thing back home in Buffalo. Miss those days. The skin was the best part.

Pig Roasts (spit-roasted over charcoal) was a very common and popular thing back home in Buffalo. Miss those days. The skin was the best part. Years ago, a neighbor hired a crew to spit roast a pig over charcoal and wood fire. The dummies skinned the pig. It dried out to the consistency of leather when finished. Tragic loss.

I've been invited to some pig roasts in Southern Louisiana, but it never was worth the drive when we were working. Haven't had one lately. Be glad when this Covid-19 crap is over. That smoked meat that lizaronarock looked good. We plan to stop at Suire's on our next trip.

Our Stock Owner in Abbeville was a bombardier during WW11, he was a hit with buddies and locals, slipped out one night and procured 2 big English hogs and roasted them for the Church over a wood fire, the English people were oohing and ohing never aware he had stole the hogs, he was a big man, huge fists, went to the barn with my grandfather and saw Big Boy Richard climb in the pit walk up to a horse that wasn’t acting right , draw back and hit him right between the eyes, fell down like a ton of bricks. My Grandfather told me Alon Parte, let’s go, he didn’t like cruelty to animals. After Grandpaw went to court for pipeline trespassing and winning 100,000$ he went to sales barn again, Grandpaw always dressed in patched overalls, looking over the bulls he told stockman he wanted that Big Brahma, he gently steered him to a cheaper one, asked Big Boy Richard if he could afford that bull. Big Boy said you kidding he owns half the bank in Abbeville. That damn bull hatred me and chased me out the field many times, Grandpaw died and Children sold it being afraid he would attack my Grandmother in the field, wonderful day for me.
