Spent 2 years in the Papua New Guinea jungles many years ago, became very fluent in Melanesian Pidgin. 9 months in Thailand, studied the language at a school for awhile, but that was a bust, my southern accent kept overpowering the tonals. Studied Spanish some, not fluent at all. I pretty much just focus on not sounding like an idiot in English these days.

Picked up some Arabic with the Army when I as deployed to Sudan and Egypt. Spoke enough Pashtun to get by in Afghanistan. Sadly like a lot of us if you don’t use it, you lose it.

 Yep, wife asked me a couple days ago who are you talking to on the porch, I said it’s me telling a story in French, I’m starting to forget words because I don’t have anyone to talk too. I look at things and say the French word for it. It goes fast if you don’t use it.

I can barely speak correct English, let alone another language, I'm from the southeast, but if your down my way, I might be able to translate for you if you happen to not comprehend a certain phrase or meaning, I can go to certain places in my state, and still not be able to understand what they are saying, especially on the costal region concerning the locals where they have a dialect from the 18th century.

Hustler, I remember when it was like a newspaper publication, like the NASPC publications, and not a full scale magazine publication. OMG!!!

One thing I love about smoking is that you can keep quiet and let them wonder what language it is you are not speaking. Silent puffing is understood in most countries.
