Looking for help in finding a pipe with a THICK bowl wall and a DEEP bowl depth. No straights. My two Stanwell Royal Guards have bowl walls almost a half inch thick. They are great smokers but have fairly shallow bowls. Any guidance on finding a pipe with approx. 1/2” walls and a minimum of 1.5” of depth? I’ve been looking but since I am not familiar with all the offerings out there I feel a bit disadvantaged. Any help from the Old Heads?

Also, what are you planning to do with this thing? Drive nails?

Are your RGs not 1.5" tall? According to the specs, at least, that one is.

If you're looking for something taller and with walls that thick, the Danish freehands with plateaux tops seem like they might fit the bill. I had an inexpensive Nording that tall and heavy, and while I haven't looked at their dimensions, I know I've seen similar models still in their lineup. Stanwell probably makes one, too.

Oh, and I linked to P&C just because I'd been looking at Stanwells there recently, so I had a pretty good idea what they had in stock.

I could of swore that Bob told us he was not buying anymore pipes just a week or two ago. Ha, I was thinking the same thing. This is an exception. Isn't that right, Plainsman?

A foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of petty minds. Plus I crossed my fingers when I wrote that. That’s my story anyway...

Second the Nording recommendation. I have a couple Great Danes that meet your specs and are great smokers.

I always remind new guys that a pipe is only as thick as it’s thinnest spot! Pay close attention to the area near the bottom of the bowl.
