I just gave my ChiCom (i.e. Road Town) bent Dublin a try, loaded with what I'm calling "Harvest of Leng." It's a 2:1 mix of Golden Harvest Extra and Plateau of Leng. There's just enough Lat left to make it a nice, full-bodied smoke, but not overwhelm my delicate taste buds. I'm still not ready to buy another one of these pipes, but I can't say as I regret this purchase...yet... Working out a proper filling method for my pipe has been an ongoing struggle learning experience. I watched this video by James J Fox the other day and thought I'd give it a try. It definitely requires sitting at my desk with some paper handy to catch the errant tobacco, but it worked really well! Followed it up with a bowlful of Haunted Bookshop in my little Italian bent apple. Nice way to spend the morning while the princess was at an appointment.

Dunhill Aperitif in an Alberto Bonfiglioli. Cool and breezy and the sun is struggling to show through. A bit uncomfortable for smoking on the back deck....

Honestly, the more you think about filling your pipe, the harder it gets. The biggest problem I've had is overfilling it, which appears to contribute to it not staying lit. The method I learned from David McGrane was easy, I got to play with my tobacco a bit, and it worked. I'm sure as I keep at this, I'll get to the point where filling the pipe is natural and I'll enjoy more successes with fewer burnt matches

Blwb, in a cob outside,,,bowl must have been damp cause it cracked and fell apart just after lighting,,, Wow! That hasn't happened to me yet. I've got about a dozen cobs, and the worst thing that happened is poking a hole through the bottom of a bowl while I was cleaning it. Its a good thing they're cheap, I guess.

Latakia is like hot dogs, we don't want to know what's in it. The main flavor is supposed to come from the cedar used in curing it. I'm pretty sure Latakia is cased with Open Pit barbeque sauce I wish.

Getting to the end of a bowl of Haunted Bookshop in a MM bent Diplomat 5th Avenue. Been an interesting day at work, not in a good way. One step forward, eight steps backward. Still keeping calm and carrying on, with a totally insincere smile on my face.

A little late posting this but spent a quiet, relaxing afternoon watching a rain. Plum Pudding in my Aldo Velani with Bengal Spice tea on the side to keep me company.

Given time, this too shall pass and you’ll be a “master” pipe smoker/aficionado.

Motzek Strang in my 1940's Peterson 308, Boomerang stem. Foster's Lager on the side. I started to comment on that after your attack on the Captain. Talk about some nasty shite! I have some next to the jar of Rum Twist. I take one out and we just start laughing.

I have to agree with Jiminks as to Strang being so good. I lack the ability to ferret out all the flavors, but as it ages every bowl rides on the shoulders of the last one and it just gets better. It will be a sad day when the jar is empty, never to be refilled.

It will be a sad day when the jar is empty, never to be refilled. Yeah, Strang will be missed. I have half a stick left in jar and can’t bring myself to open it yet as when it’s gone, there's no more. I just need to keep reminding myself that I have it to smoke it and not look at it.
