I knew the day would come and now its too late - I am into the weird world of Cobfoolery! The first try is not exactly like I hoped it would be but nevertheless promising. More is to come I am afraid....

Yup, Frank you really stepped in it. The next thing you will be making all kinds of mod on your Cobs. Frank FYI if you are on Facebook there is a group for Cobs Called Corn Cob Nation. There are a bunch of guys in Germany with their own chapter.
I want to mod a couple of Cobs after I find an attachment for my wood lathe.
Good smokes John R

Thank you John! I was on Facebook for quite a while but got bored. Now I am not any longer inclined to participate in the "Zuckerberg-mind-controlling-machine" any longer. But AFAIK there are some websites about modifying cobs in the net. I am currently thinking about what I could try next. There are a few forever stems on the way too...

Well done, Frank. Just remember that you are entering a whole new world. Once word gets around that yo have crossed into Cobville they will take your soul.

I am a fool for my Missouri Meerschaum cobs from my MM freehand corncob,to my maple & cherry mini Mt. Ozarks ,to my maple MM Country Gentlemen, I have not customized them other than occasionally swapping stems. But I am looking for ideas of my dream cobfools . At the moment I am pretty occupied with my Falcons. PS, as a radio ham , I am into the purefool art of arcane QRP, low power & minimalism ,in a modest way, similarly my cobfoolery is QRP !

That's exactly what I did. I have a Mark Twain with a white stem that I reserve for things like Condor and Ennerdale. I have 2 more Twains that I put black ebonite stems on for my "normal" tobacco.

Glad you like it guys! john: Going down in Cobville sounds slightly Hollywood to me.... @motto: Falcons and Cobs - I´ve been known for the same sins in pipe world.

It does, Lady Margaret. That pipe is perfect for your tastes. Cobs seem to be accumulating around here.

You all have inspired me to buy another cob. And I did it through CCN on FB. I did the same thing... so many of the limited POTY offerings on different sites are of styles that aren't my favorites, that for the price I have a hard time justifying... the MM looks like a great compromise.

I joined the group back when I started up The Patch. Primary motivation was to spread the word about this place. I'm still a member there but don't participate. The Facebook groups don't have the same sense of community to me that a forum does.
Just my two cents.

I agree, but the CCN group seems to be on par with this group, not as intimate, but still friendly and inclusive, and the POTY is awesome! I also like the pinpoint focus on cobs. It certainly won't draw me away from here, this will always be home, but it's a nice companion group.

I will read posts over at CCN occasionally, but this is my pipe home. I do belong to a rockhound group on FB that is awesome. Very active and supportive.
