We had the local Fire Chief give a talk at a gun club I belong to. He says ammo "cooking off" in a fire is no danger - just like you said trailboss . The brass case will either blow the side out, or it (the brass) will fly off with little speed/force.

Maybe it is possible to build enough pressure to cause superficial wounds and in the case of the eyes something more serious. But SAAMI produced the video along with firefighters, I will take their findings to the bank. They are all about safety. saami.org/about-saami/
I witnessed .556 rounds in a fire and the pop, pooped the rounds from the case.

When a loaded round is set off by fire the case can shatter and send shards of brass flying within a small radius. Rounds cooking off and sending bullets flying just doesn’t happen. Pure BS. Somewhat helped along by movies. A quantity of ammunition going off in a fire is definitely a danger to anyone in the area, but not from projectiles acting as if they were fired from a gun.

That was definitely a freak accident. And it was bits of the case, not the bullet that hit him. Didn't say he was admitted. They probably just plucked out the copper bits and sent him home with no stitches.

I saw it happen in Rambo First Blood.
