This is a messy process, but it can be cleaned up later.

Well that coat cracked a little overnight also. So today I applied a very thin coat, mainly into the cracks. Learning experience. Hope this helps.

Jason from my experience Kayowool can take almost 3000 Degs we used to patch our furnaces with it raw, no cement on it. So you will be ok.

Our furnaces heated gas oil to 2000 degs, 4 Stories high, 16 burners 2 ft across, I ran 7 of those big boys, we used a lot of Kayowool all the time for patches, saved my butt one time, wrapped it like a blanket around me and my assistant operator and ran thru fire for 3 floors. Itβs good stuff.

Soon, soon. I'm going to lay a few more light coats of refractory cement, just to toughen up the layer, and fire cure each one. I have to finish building the anvil stand also. By the end of the month though, the shop will be up and running.

I have several that would be perfect for that. Solid oak. You just have to come get it and load it. ππ€

Today's quick project was a stand for the forge. The simplest, most cost effective, thing I could come up with was to stack cinder blocks, so I picked up 8 of them, and now I have a simple heat resistant stand for that too.

Finally made time to finish getting the forge dialed in and start my first projects. A few starts to some snuff spoons and a grade 8 bolt that I heated and smashed the heck out of, just for fun.
