My son is a truck driver..He drives in the south..Usually between Florida and Texas..Staying away from winter in the north..Except now he's been sitting in a truck stop in Texas since Saturday..He's been running his truck to stay warm..The temperature there now is 18 degrees..He's starting to get a bit low on fuel..He can't get any more because the truck stop is closed. It has no power..He doesn't know if he has enough fuel to last until the truck stop opens back up and he can get more so he can get rolling again..He's 56 years old,but he's my my son and I still worry about him..I don't want to think about him in that truck with no heat in that cold.

Yes Larry, no matter how old our children are we worry about them. Natural instinct, truck drivers are a hardy lot, good practical instincts he will be alright.

Not many trucks rolling now. I have been concerned about the drivers that feel compelled to drive in these conditions. I hope you're son is back on the road soon.

I'll say a pray for him sir, I know what it's like. I remember having to drive and old Intertrashtional 1000 miles in the winter with no heater and a gaping hole in the floorboard while my truck was in the shop getting a stinking PM. I was stopping at every truck stop on the way just to go inside to get warm enough to get back in it again. Hot coffee was no help.

A GMC five star brigadier gave me a face washing on a Fort Bragg run in California...that sucked. My '72 Transtar COE had no insulation from the engine, a Detroit 318 that liked to bleed oil..... Shake and bake brother. Sorry to hear about that Larry, where is your son in Texas? Texas is a big state, but it would be a shame if he was hunkered down 5 miles from a forum member.

I'm sure you're worried about your son, Larry. I will be thinking of him. I hope he manages to stay safe and warm.
Reading this is kinda hard to picture in my mind since over here, we rarely get extreme weather, but even when we do, we're so small that something like this doesn't happen. I can only imagine what he and you are going through. Keep us informed.

Larry I feel your concern. My son does a team run between Chicago and Denver. He was stopping in Nebulous a few weeks ago for about 28 hours. They had just fueled. But same scenario. The truck stop lost power. But I thunk it was only for a few hours. He was more concerned about the ice covered roads and the people who thunk they are invincible and can drive as fast as they want.
I hope all is well and he is moving again.

Life is not easy chasing the dotted white line hug a truck driver.

Drivers don't get the credit they deserve...keeping the products moving and food on the shelves.

Drivers don't get the credit they deserve...keeping the products moving and food on the shelves. I couldn't agree more. Now if we could just get a bunch of truck loads of tobacco brought into Canada. 🤔

Drivers don't get the credit they deserve...keeping the products moving and food on the shelves. People don't realize that darn near everything they buy comes to them one way or the other on a truck.
