I've got a few in the fire right now but, I managed to sneak this one in, a 3/4 bent Rhodesian with a Limited Edition SEM ebonite hand cut ebonite stem. Sadly it's the last of this color I have in stock but, there's always more colors out there. Preparing this one for a full blast and I think it'll come out pretty nice. Haven't done many 3/4 bents and I figured it was time to revisit them.

Nice work...tell me about the ones in the fire - what does that mean? They had flaws and were thrown in the fire, or they're curing in some way??

He means 'Irons in the fire', as in 'Things I'm working on' - stuff he's planning or preparing to do.
It's like if a guy lost his job, and his buddy asked if he'd got another one yet, and he says: 'Well, I've got a few irons in the fire, but nothing definite yet.'

That'll be another beaut for sure! I love 3/4 bents. Maybe if I don’t eat for a coupla weeks... Ah come on, my pipes are reasonably priced to say the least. Fabulous Rhody...love that stem! You da Man! All's fair in Love and Pipes sir! Nice work...tell me about the ones in the fire - what does that mean? They had flaws and were thrown in the fire, or they're curing in some way?? In my case it means I'm working on others that are spoken for, sorta like what simnettpratt said. You can also say "I have some rat killing to do" just means ya have other things to do. He means 'Irons in the fire', as in 'Things I'm working on' - stuff he's planning or preparing to do. It's like if a guy lost his job, and his buddy asked if he'd got another one yet, and he says: 'Well, I've got a few irons in the fire, but nothing definite yet.' And Thank you all Gentlemen!

What is the blue color I see on/in the wood? Or is it just color due to handling? Or is it the wood itself?

I am just looking at the briar. It almost looks like blue grain to me. Wondering if it's part of the briar? or just from handling the pipe while the stem was made. It would be awesome to have a blue grain. 😀

I made a blue pipe a couple of times, both times I found that very few people like a blue pipe. I can't be making pipes I know don't sell well no matter how much I may like them.

Thanks for getting back!🙂 Hey, I'm colorblind so I certainly understand, in fact after awhile I looked at it and thought the briar had darken to another color then realized it was just from wet sanding the stem. LOL!

That's going to be a beautiful pipe, Ron. That stem is just incredible. Reminds me of a sunset over the Pacific.

Might be a while before I finish it up, I have two others that are fairly close to being at the same step and I would like to blast them all the same day and then stain and finish them all at once. Then I can take a day off and fool around with something else I have waiting for me to finish.

That is beautiful. I'd be afraid to smoke anything you made, though. I mean that as a compliment: I'm a klutz!

I understand but, mine are made just as durable as anyone else's maybe more so, so don't be afraid to smoke any of my pipes. They maybe attractive to you but, that's only half of what goes into my pipes, they smoke as good as they look also.

I've heard plenty of comments about how well your pipes are engineered to doubt the smoking qualities of your work. Maybe I'll start saving my pennies.

I've got to agree with everyone else here, that stem is amazing. What shade are you going to go with on the stummel?
