For a long time I've been gluing a cork knocker in the middle of a pyrex pie plate and using that as an ashtray. I never had any problems until recently. Normally I'd use Elmers glue, but this time the knocker came loose after a few days. So, I used superglue. It also came loose. I figured that was a fluke and did it again. Same story - it came loose. Can anyone recommend a glue that might work? i don't know why the glue gods have suddenly decided to frown on me. I've done this for years with no problem. Must be the phase of the moon or something.

The pyrex may be the issue as it is treated to be oven proof...I would imagine gorilla glue might work, but I don't know for a fact.

I’ve created bunch of pipe ashtrays with corks of all shapes and sizes over the years. I gave up on glue always failing and have been using 3m 2 sided stickies with good results.

There are 2 glues that I can think of.I don't know if either would work..One is sold in hobby shops to glue aquariums..The other is sold in auto parts stores to glue rear view mirrors on..Both made for gluing glass

Liquid Nail offers something for almost any project, IT might be worth checking...I gave up on the ashtray knocker ,and glued one to a slab of oak, along with a cheap pipe rest. I kept that rig next to my ashtray for a year or two; still tucked away somewhere around here.

I'd also go for the 2 sided 3M adhesive pads. They should do the job well with no fuss and no mess.

I'd vote for Gorilla Glue, but the Pyrex might very well be a problem. Double sided adhesive pads are usduaslly made with pretty strong glue. Not double sided tape. Too weak.

Gorilla Glue seems to have done the trick. I'll use it in the future.

I leave my knocker loose; hasn’t given me a problem in a couple of years.

As my 4 year old grandson has proven, strawberry jam stuck under the granite slab on the kitchen island is the strongest adhesive known to man.
