I was at the big book auction in Archer City in 2012. Wife and friend made it on the front page of the Houston Chronicle, I got an arm in the shot....left with about 3 shelves worth of books though, so was worth it.

Lonesome Dove, in my humble opinion, is the greatest western movie ever made.

Lonesome Dove, in my humble opinion, is the greatest western movie ever made. Agreed. I learned about the book when Ronald Reagan recuperated from being shot discussed it. I read the book and when the movie came out it was like no ever. Augustus McRae and Captain McCall where just like the figures I had imagined! The casting was superb as was the production, years later I found out that forum member @sablebrush had worked on the film. Having met him a few times in Vegas at the West Coast Pipe show it all made sense. They hired only the best in order to exceed expectations.
