Ted's Blend #300 in my Barling Presentation Straight Grain Bulldog. I'm trying not to repeat myself on your pipes, but I can't remember if I've commented on this one before. What a beauty. Is that a really big bowl, or just big in proportion to the rest of the pipe?

Is that a really big bowl, or just big in proportion to the rest of the pipe? Thanks! I don’t pull this one out as often as I should. I think it’s just the proportions and slenderness of the saddle stem as it’s not big. Barling stamped this as a group 4 and is about the same size as my Dunhill group 4s. It’s 5 1/2” in length and the bowl is a hair under 1.5” deep. This one is a post transition but the Presentation line was a special top end line which was hand made at the Charatan factory.

The tobacco is a mix of Virginias from a jar labeled Nightwatch. The pipe is a brandy shaped Prince of wales. The coffeepot is hard at work ,brewing my first cup of Yuban on this misty Monday morning.

April 19th. Lovely day but wind is up a bit making it neccesary to seek the still air pocket behind the rig. So today a petite paquet from Steve Laug at Rebornpipes arrived in the mail. I am not sure what possessed him to put this pipe in his online store, or why I picked that day to nose around the blog (with all the repair articles it is always fun to go read about pipes) as I do from time to time. My requirements for pipes is well fufilled so I was not in a buying mode when I read about a petersons special series barrel with p-lip. At 21 grams i did find it attractive as a second work pipe was in my plans and light weight was the first hurdle. So a light weight p-lip army mount....yep, now I am getting interested. Go on the store...there it is.. Long story short, We got the paypal sent and today it arrived!. Okay, Let me say I had no idea it was a tiny pipe. Very tiny my pinky finger fills the bowl. (About the diameter of a robusto cigar and quite deep i will get stats handy and repost). As all my pipes are for smoking, i picked c&d Awakened Elder as a first bowl. While I have yet to decide the flavors in the blend, the pipe smoked wonderfully giving a good, albeit shorter, smoke. And its tiny..tiny tiny..i just love it.. I shopped a stanwell either a petite or belgique that was about the same size in a local shop year ago but they wanted too much. This is a rusticated barrel and with the small short ferrule, long vulcanite p-lip and nickle banded army mount it is a little jewel. I theorized one could find petite pipes attractive as a way to save tobacco while enjoying a "full size" smoke and I am happy to report in this one instance a success! Thanks again to Steve Laug for this and all the other reborn pipes I have. (6 total now)... Hope you all have as great a day!
