april 29th. another day of labor is behind so now to a fine pipe. started with the work mix which currently is the remaining awakened elder and my open brick of tabac manil semois. the latter is used when a blend has gone off for me but I still need to finish the tin.. so today I pushed the mix well past 50% semois and found a good balance. semois has chocolate, peanut, butter, sweet pencil shavings, and combos of those dependent on ratios and condiments. So today was a complex treat. sweet salt...buttery pencil shavings, some amazing flavor I can only attribute to some trainwreck going on in the bowl. on deck is the ebony spigot 107 with a careful pack of red carpet (c&d). while I am a full power raw curmugeon over stuffing un-topped high kick blends (lancers slices is very nice) I do have a softer side and wish I could really dip into the aromatics deep end but bite and sting keep me away from candided offerings. but red carpet seems a good occasional blend. pretty sure not an all day smoke but two in a day is possible and that is nice balance. still the redcarpet needs tended during the burn. slower cadence mostly. i find my light blend taper bowl pipe pulled the perique forward odd..(savinelli estelli non pareil 9128 army mount billiard. it has a page in the rebornpipes archive if you want to see the restoration) and my ebony U shaped bowl brought out the sweet..so it is the new hotness! hope you all are having a great day...

I managed to get in some 3F and LNF today. Now finishing a tin of Peterson's Irish Oak. I guess this one is extinct now and I think I only have one tin put away. I did get the Irish Cask* last year by accident, but haven't opened one yet.
