Adrian Beltre had a short run in Boston, too. I'd have to do color, because I try to jinx the other team and that probably wouldn't be good on play-by-play! No more disparaging Rangers comments from me. MLB (or maybe NESN) has a minimal text only play by play on all the games. I've followed a couple games like that when cable hosed me. It's not exciting, but OK if you are otherwise occupied.
Sox had a brief slump and came back last night on fire! I watched that and then Indians last night, keeping an eye on the strike zone. You may be right on that, Urb. I will continue my observation for science.

It's the video I can't watch, and that preferably not on my pc, so I can shoot the alien space robots while watching the game. I can get radio on my pc, but having a browser open uses all my pc's meager resources, and the alien space robots get me.

I dunno what's up with it. The league supposedly wanted more offense and more balls in play this year, and a wide strike zone is not going to help with that. Dodgers picked up another win, this time over the Marlins. That's 3 wins in a row. That's more like it! Kershaw had a weird game: gave up 5 runs in 6 innings, but also struck out 11 (and had an RBI hit).

Give each change some time to play out. I understand the goal of attracting young fans with shorter attention spans. I read some wit write something about MLB being the only business that tries to improve its product by giving consumers less of it. I'm not against change, but they need to be sensible. My $0.02. Red Sox seem to be back on track, too. Yay!

The Dodgers won again last night to make it 4 in a row. It was costly, though. Corey Seager got his hand broken by an inside fastball. Gonna be out a couple months, it sounds like. That's a day after putting AJ Pollock back on the IL, which he had just come off of, with the same hamstring strain.
It's been an endless series of injuries this year. Sometimes I think we've got more guys on the 60-day IL than we do on the 40-man roster.
We did get back Joe Kelly back from shoulder surgery. We badly needed a bullpen arm, with all the injuries down there.

I saw the Seager replay. That stinks.
I've not been overly impressed with Kiké and he's been on IL. Just found out he's rehabbing with the Worcester Sox, where he got a grand slam yesterday! I'm glad they pulled up Michael Chavis, though. Not interchangeable with Kiké, but showed potential last "season." There's enough sort of utility players that they can handle absences. Course Sox lost today in a back-and-forth with Angels. Trout broke his slump. JD Martinez threw staight from Left to home to get Ohtani out on a helluva play.
And did I hear that Dodgers took up Pujols?

Ohtani can run, so that must have been a hell of a play, indeed.
Yeah, Keek is a really good defender anywhere you put him, and he's a good clubhouse guy, but he can't hit righties and he can't hit anybody's off-speed pitches. He hits fastballs from lefties, and that's more or less all. He can hit those far, but they're pretty much all he can make good contact with. He was going to get an opportunity to play every day somewhere, but he really is better suited as a utility man.
Dodgers lost today, but it was a bullpen game, so that's probably appropriate. Still took 2 out of 3. The bigger concern is that Chris Taylor was scratched from the lineup before the game even started, with wrist soreness. When will it end?
We did, indeed, sign Pujols. At this point, we need living humans who have played baseball before, and a righthanded bat wouldn't go amiss, either. Whether Albert still qualifies as a bat, we'll see. Not clear right now if he'll just be a bench piece, or they'll shuffle the infield around (Muncy to 2B) to play him at 1B and get more ABs. If I were guessing, I would guess he'll just be a bench piece.

Being from Detroit, I don't post here very often. Not a whole lot to get excited about. But tonight, Spencer Turnbull threw a no-no against the Mariners. the Tigers have actually been playing pretty well the last couple weeks.

Crazy times. Congrats, Tigers . I won't vent about the Sox getting skunked tonight.

Second one already for the Mariners. Tough time to be a baseball fan in Seattle or Detroit. Dodgers took the D'backs, 8-1 to sweep the series. Julio Urias was dominant again. Lux hit a grand slam.

not regular at this thread but a brief mention. Wifie's Yanks sorta plodding along in mediocre. I would be interested in a bit of "basebrawl" with 'em & the Rays. More with them instead of some infamous ones with Red Sox in the past.
Happy following your teams to all

Hey, just ol ed , Yankees aren't in the basement any more, so that's something. I remember some doozies with Red Sox and Yankees! They have yet to meet this year, but they have a series coming in June. Nothing personal, but I have a New Englander's inbred hatred of the Yankees. Ha ha, it's just baseball. I'd love to see them together in the Fall.

Yup. He got the no hitter-- Yankees' Corey Kluber. I hope wifie was watching, Ed. Sorry, David, it was against Rangers.
Red Sox over Blue Jays tonight. I'll have the rest of Dodgers when I head in.

Dodgers took the D'backs again, 4-2, to sweep the 4-game series. Nice. Got a fair bit of help from poor D'backs defense.
Now it's up the road for a set against the Giants at Kevin Elster Field.

Well, I had that slightly wrong. That was the 3rd game in the D'backs series. We won today's, too, so I was right about the important part!
Albert Pujols hit his first homer in blue, and Will Smith hit another one, later. That's pretty cool because back at the first home game, when they had the ceremony to give out the WS rings, one of the things they did was get each player's baseball idol growing up to do a video introduction of them. Smith's was Albert Pujols.

That pretty cool with Smith and Pujols. I gotta admit when I watch Dodgers I hear the Fresh Prince theme in my head.
Red Sox took the Jays series 2-1. JD Martinez crushed a 3-run homer for the win in the 8th last night. Off to Philly tonight, I think.

Forgive me if you guys have already noticed this, but since 1887, there have only been 311 no-hitters, at an average of two per year.
A quarter way into this season, we've had six. Since 1900, the most ever in a year is seven, in 1990, 1991, 2012, and 2015.
Only three teams are responsible for the six no-nos pitched against them: the Indians, Mariners and Rangers (grr).
Of course, the guy with the most no-hitters is Nolan Ryan, at seven. My buddy Tim used to have a VCR of the sixth and seventh, with everything cut out but the pitches and the Rangers' scores, with Mark Holtz and Eric Nadel commentating. They were great. By the second inning of the sixth one, Mark Holtz was already saying, 'Well, this just isn't fair'. Before this year, we went 3,831 games with only one no-hitter against us, btw.
Anyway, looks possible if not likely this year will set a record.

Smith has used that as his walk-up music ever since he got to the bigs. Not sure if he is this year. Haven't noticed.
You guys seem to be staying hot. Outperforming the projections, I'm pretty sure.
Dodgers took the first one in SF, squeaking out a 2-1 victory on a Chris Taylor 2-run blast. Bauer was excellent, going 6.1, and the bullpen, very little of which was available, shut them down for the last 2.2.

It's suppressing offense too much.
