That didn't sound good about Mookie, but I hope for the best.
You probably heard about the Dugie thing at Skankee Stadium: after the inning warm up, he tossed a practice ball to a RS fan in left. Some New York clown threw it at Dugie's back when play was starting. The kid was not happy, understandably. The game was mostly a tire fire by that point, anyway. Kiké is earning his oats lately and it's good to see.

Kiké is earning his oats lately and it's good to see. I did see that, yeah. Having taken in a couple of games in the bleachers at the previous Yankee Stadium, I can attest they are mostly not nice people. Dugie's going to have to learn, though, that all he does when he reacts like that is make it worse. He turned that fan into a YS folk hero. Glad to hear Keek is playing well. Dodgers didn't get it done in game 3 against the Giants, tonight. Kenley blew the save and we went 3 up, 3 down in the bottom of the inning. Opposite of last night's game. I prefer last night's.

You're absolutely right about Dugie's reaction, but I can't blame him at all. Alex Cora had the sense to clear the field to let tempers settle a bit. They'll both be back at Fenway soon to do it all over again. The beer flows heavy in those bleacher seats, too, but I hope Boston shows a little more class.
I didn't catch LA, but Sox had a strong win over Jays. They've been not good against Toronto batters this year, but except for back-to-back homers, kept them in check. They have been playing in Buffalo, which is conducive to homers.

We lost 2 out of 3 to the #@*! Giants again, but . . . it seems we just landed Max Scherzer and Trea Turner in a trade. That should help.

Dodgers stormed to a win, late, against the D'backs, but the Giants also won, so we didn't gain any ground.
Corey Seager put in a PH appearance in his second game back from the broken hand, and he is hitting the ball with authority. Looks like he never skipped a beat. If he can get his defense back up to where it was before this season (it was pretty bad before he got hurt), he's going to be a huge, huge gain. If we can get Betts healthy and back out there, then work Trea Turner in, and Chris Taylor stays the baseball monster he has become, this team starts to look more like its formidable self than it has for most of this injury-plagued season, even with Bellinger's bat in the tank.
Oh, and that Scherzer guy. And hopefully we get Kershaw back from the IL soon.
We can stop running half a AAA squad out there every night.

Yeah, LAD picked up some talent. I always liked Mad Max. Sox added a bit of new blood. and I hope it helps, because they've been in a small tailspin lately. Sale should be back soon, which is convenient, as Garrett Richards never really got it together after spidertackgate. Tigers series ends tonight. The Sox finally got a win last night. Tune in, Silver.

^^^^^Disregard Tigers tonight. My cell mate just figured out it was a day game today. Oh, well, we'll watch it now. I never claimed I was smart.

Hey, I'm just glad I'm not talking to myself anymore.
Dodgers are off tonight. Freeway Series with the Angels resumes tomorrow.

Hey, I'm just glad I'm not talking to myself anymore. Dodgers are off tonight. Freeway Series with the Angels resumes tomorrow. Haha. It's never crowded in here! Tigers had Little League caliber defense yesterday and still creamed the Red Sox 8-1. Post season is quickly slipping away if they don't turn around. I ain't happy.

I haven't looked at your standings in a while. Didn't realize things were getting that dire.
We're still hoping to overtake the Giants. They played basically .500 ball in July. Unfortunately, so did we. Adding Scherzer and T Turner should certainly help fill some of the holes created by injuries. We're still shorthanded on starters, though, with Kershaw on the IL till sometime in September, at least, Gonsolin going back on it, and Fartknuckle suspended. And we just found out Jimmy Nelson's season is over, so there's another relief arm down.
If we do much this year, I think it's going to have to be by consistently scoring eleventy. Right now, we score eleventy, then we score zero.

Yup. They lost 3 of 4 games to Jays. Sox have not handled Jays batters well this year. It is looking grim unless they turn it around.
There isn't much going on in MLB-land this Monday night. I'll be watching Yanks v Royals.

Sale might still make a difference.
Dodgers took 2 of 3 from the Angels. Off tonight as they travel east. Series against the Phils and Mets upcoming.

Seems we've cooled the red hot Phillies, taking the first two games by substantial margins. Getting no cooperation from the dang Giants, though.

The Dodgers, who had been 1-12 on the season in extra-inning games, take their second straight from the Mets in extras. Picked up a half game on the Giants.
Hope all's well, Emily.

Make that a full game on the Giants. I thought they were off today, but they just lost to the Rockies.

Yes, things are well enough. Just darned real life stuff. It looks like a race out in NL W, huh? The few and far between MLB fans here are Reds fans and I'm catching up on their games. They aren't bad, but got beaten by the Phil's last time out. In important news, Red Sox are back, though still four GB under Tampa. Sale started yesterday and looked as good as ever. So, there was a shake up in the rotation and pen and it's helping. Batters are finally hitting. Dugie is back from paternity leave--time that better next time, kid. They pulled out of their post AS break skid. I hope it's in time.

I hear you. That stuff happens, sometimes.
We'll see about the race out west. It's not looking like it'll be a runaway, at least. The Padres are fading fast; they may not even make the WC at this rate. But SF and LA continue to duke it out. Last night was like the 2nd time in 6 weeks that both teams played, and didn't have the same outcomes. Crazy.
Dugie's just a baby, himself. He can't be making babies.

Dodgers finished the sweep of the Pirates, and the Giants lost, so we closed their lead to 3 games.

The only part of living in the US that I miss is going to Astros games. Club level, giant lager, feet up, and just enjoying the game and the atmosphere. I can get something similar with cricket here, but still not quite the same feel. Back in the day, I'd be able to smoke my pipe in the seats, but the powers that be have sucked that bit of joy right out..

Dodgers beat the Padres, 5-2. Unfortunately, the Mets laid down for the Giants, 8-0. Still 2.5 games back.

It's still baseball, darnit!
AL East is taking it down to the wire for the WC, which for a while I thought was out of the Sox' reach. They started getting their act together when there was a rash of COVID positives. They came back strong last week. Yankees at Fenway this weekend! Mommy told me this morning that it's supposed to rain in Boston, though. Grrr.

I hope Emily doesn't get mad at me. My favorite NL team, since I was a kid, were the Dodgers. I remember watching them in the '65 World Series, against the Twins, with my mom. Day games in the World Series, in the middle of the week, go figure. It would have been something to see them in Brooklyn in the 50's, that was an amazing time in baseball history.

Yeah, the Boys of Summer were something. Roger Kahn's book is a good read, if you're interested.
My first Dodger memories are vague ones of losing to the Big Red Machine. Then the '77 and '78 World Series losses to the Yankees. Got 'em in '81, though, the fargin' iceholes.

Yeah, I had the same feelings as you, regarding 77-78 Series. The Yankees always seemed to spoil the party. Still can't warm up to cheering for them. But baseball is baseball because of them. Gotta respect what they've contributed. It would be great to see those two teams in the World Series again (sorry, Emily). I've read Kahn's book a couple times. This might be on my winter reading list. I have a book on Ted Williams that I'll be reading, too.
