Thought I would show off the first pipe I ever bought, a La Strada Aria #139, a plain, old billiard that doubles as a sitter. I believe I purchased it at a Tinder Box in Lexington, KY, better than 45 years ago. As you can tell it features a replacement stem -- I've gone through at least two -- and it remains my favorite, Pipedia has very little on La Strada, although they were very popular at one time because they were inexpensive and reliable. It said they were made in Italy and that's about it. I understand they were manufactured by Peterson, but I can't recall where I heard that. At any rate, I just wanted to say it is a great pipe and to show despite all the Dunhills, Ashtons what have you, they can still be outclassed by modest pipe like La Strada. Anybody else have their first?

Not my first, but I do have my second. First was a basket pipe that gurgled horribly, and had a very tight draw. This was my first pipe worth smoking. A Stanwell Silke Brun 19. Originally had a matte finish that has shined itself up nicely over the years. Humorously, this pipe was also purchased at a Tinderbox the one in Tacoma, WA, but only about 10 years ago. Still gets smoked frequently also.

Very nice, gentlemen. Beautiful pipes. I suppose it is obvious that I am here primarily for the pipe (and infrequently, tobacco) porn.
