Thought yβall might like this. That little gal in the pink hat helping me wrestle and hold calves for branding is Shweetie, my gutsy little wife of 30 years.

You surely do have a good partner, not high jacking the thread, but I have the same, can count on her better than any other man I worked with in my life. Pink looks good on her.ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»ππ»

That sure does look familiar, Dewayne. How many riders you have that day?

That sure does look familiar, Dewayne. How many riders you have that day? About 8, they switched off and took turns. 4 at a time. We did 540 calves that day and finished another 140 the next.

Always good to have a capable partner! π Are you hot or cold branding? Freeze brand You learn something new everyday! I have been ad roundups where they had fires when I was younger. I imagine that it is a lot safer in dry country, a faster process, and more better for the cattle in a lot better ways. A beautiful backdrop, love the Rockies!

I imagine that it is a lot safer in dry country, a faster process, and more better for the cattle in a lot better ways. Besides being less painful, it actually stands out better on darker colors and is less likely to smudge. We just used ear tags but had much fewer head count.

If it were my butt getting branded...I would also prefer the freeze brand.

[Girl veterinary technician has entered the chat]
I only worked in the northeast, so mostly small headcounts, mostly dairy, all ear tags. Most of my farm calls were polling and docking and castrations and such. The guys could usually keep up!
