I reread posts where Walt was looking for Picayune, and thought I would search for him. It may be old news around the forum, but it is news to me. It seems Mark Ryan sold the company and the new owners want to focus on ryo tobacco, but Mark kept the Perique part of the operation. pipesmokersdens.com/threads/picayune-where-are-you.9990/I always looked forward to seeing Mark at the west coast pipe show, a great businessman, fun to talk to and he gave great discounts at the show. The last show I was at in 2019, on Sunday as it was all shutting down, Mark and Jim were boxing up a lot of tobacco to ship back home, and the thought ran through my mind to ask him what he wanted for all of it, as I could put it in my car. Now, I wish I did.

I remember hearing that ... too bad! My supply of Two Timer and Ryback is pretty decent but I did find the site:

National Cigar had some Rimboche and others recently. I knew Picayune was gone and the rest were shrouded in rumor.
The moral of the story is to buy while you can or soon you can't.

Like Darin posted, you can still get what's left of the Daughters and Ryan tobacco from rollyourown.com: www.rollyourown.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=90 Picayune and Windsail Platinum appear to be the only two sold out. Three Sails is $24.50/lb, or a 5lb bag for $100. The rest of the pipe tobacco is value stuff like Gambler and 4 Aces, though they do have popular blends like Carter Hall and Half and Half. I did not know there were fourteen brands of rolling papers. No glass pipes, bongs or gram scales.

You chimed in on Baboo’s thread requesting condor plug, so without scrolling to the top, I assumed you started it. thebriarpatchforum.com/thread/9215/wanted-irish-condor-plug-picayuneThanks on the links, but reading Jim’s post I wouldn’t count on seeing Picayune anywhere anytime soon. They jettisoned a lot of blends, I imagine because of the looming grandfathering requirements.

I never did try their blends so I can't say I will lament them. However, it's still unfortunate that the brand will cease to exist.

I have several pounds of Rimboche S.J. and Picayune tucked away.... but it's literally tucked away 1900 miles from me.

I really didn't need any, what I have is deep cellared.
Sad to see another source go, though.

I had a few, but nothing I can't do without. The worst part is that it was a great way for Jim to work the Chicago show.

I'll miss Pecayune and Three Sails. I have one of each in the cellar.

Mark Ryan commented to me:
“ I get complaints about the lack of moisture in my tobacco’s” (All the blends that I have smoked are good to go, no drying needed) Mark said “I tell the people that complain that I am willing to add water since tobacco is sold by weight”
I cracked a large hare of Picayune from 2017 tonight, and in a mason jar the tobacco seems the same as it was when jarred.
(Although I do not have an RH meter, it seems the same.)

I don't think Mark will be going anywhere. He retained the perique portion of the business, and he is a giant in the industry. We should get to enjoy his wit and knowledge for many years!

I was glad to hear that Mark Ryan will continue to run the perique factory. I've never met him, but he seems like a great guy in his factory tour. I like the fact that he respects and seeks to preserve the historical aspects of the property and manufacturing process.

The new owner is still making 3 Sails. That's good news, John. Thanks. The new owner is the company that makes Ohm RYO. They kept the majority of D&R blends, but those are the ones that are popular for RYO. Three or four weeks ago, I bought a bag of 3 Sails which was marked as being from the new owner.
