I’m aware that new members need 100 posts to offer items for sale. I recently ran across my father’s collection of both pipes and tobacco in various tins and pouches. I do not smoke but would appreciate any guidance on how to see if there is anything of value and/or how to sell it. Just trying to be up front on my intent.

Depends on what you have...if you have a collection of Grabow and Medico pipes..you don't really have pipes of major value. If you have some name brands like Dunhill, Castello, etc. then definitely contact Pipestud...Steve is honest as the day is long and will give you an honest appraisal of your pipes. Same with tobacco, although Steve is having issues with the gov. regarding his location of operation. Still he is the best bet. Should you have some expensive pipes from before the 60's for custom restoration George Dibos is the man as his work is exceptional. Consider taking up pipe smoking...fun, and a great group of forums to pick from.

You can pm me - plan on sending some pictures and looking at each pipe for makers marks, logos, etc. I will be happy to tell you what you have, values if I know, best course of action (according to me), etc. This is currently a free service that will return to the normal fee structure of free, after the pandemic is over.

Thanks to each of you. I will begin taking inventory and pictures. Seems like the best place to start.
pepesdad1... I would except that while it looks appealing and I always enjoyed the aroma, Im a type 2 diabetic so smoking and drinking are not part of my plan to live a long, well-traveled life. Ive even given up my beloved fried chicken, chicken fried steak and (ulp) beer. My only real vice now-a-days is travel. I have a 4yo granddaughter I plan on spoiling for many years to come.
peteguy... ill pm you as soon as I have gathered the information and pictures.

Waydeg...you are smart to give up the things that will shorten your life...seems obvious, but having a brother who has the same medical issues and his refusal to follow advice ('course he is 82 yrs old) still burns my butt after having to endure Miami for 2 months while he was laid up in hospital. Peteguy will give you good advice as will pipestud...take advantage of it..it is free and both are honorable folks!
