That's what she said. (He wished.) Oh Urb... I see your brain is in the gutter again turning an innocent comment into something else. Good one... you got me there. 😉 It's how I do!

Morning everyone. Friday has arrived. Going to try the Grey Ghost/ODF combo this morning, in an old cob.

June 11th. So my experiment with C&D old ones series has two open tins. miskatonic mixture and innsmouth. meh, I really respect the blenders skill in making a "themed" tobacco blend. I do question why they chose these flavors. thankfully both blends are not overly focused on a particular flavor. Innsmouth actually has a nice graham undertone but lacks power, richness and ultimately satisfaction. Miskatonic mixture is a bit better with a savory note and decent performance. Needless to say they are not going to be reordered but at least they can be smoked instead of tossed away. Being a "Codger" it goes without saying I am looking for rich, well matured blends that bring high quality tobaccos with natural flavors. of the two blends miskatonic has more appeal. Innsmouth is lighter in profile with only the graham cracker hints keeping my interest. I would recommend both blends to new, or occasional pipe enthusiast with Innsmouth as the mildest pick. I am happy to have tried the blends despite my overall negative opinion of the results. anyhoo have a great day!

lost cause Thurs with near all day with wifie's EEG brain scan & followup with doctor's verbal tests. Not officially diagnosed with dementia but sure "on the cusp" of same. Time will tell how things progress
Back OT, in from full walks, no-band 6x42 for company. After the Ed is fed, Abingdon in old SamMartin lg freehand. Probably some time with gifted cobs as they're off 3 day rest today & yard work
69, clear, headed for 82 eventually
Ed Duncan , Batavia, NY pipe/cigar since '62

I hope that you have her for a very long time. Be aware that the new alzheimer drug Aduhelm is so ineffective that the entire neurology advisory council quit the FDA because they approved it. Not only is it ineffective, but it has bad side effects and costs $52k a year. It's sad when people in government jobs can be bribed or threatened into ignoring the good of the people. 🤬

just ol ed my thoughts are with you and wifie. It must be so difficult for you both. I'm having Sutliff Victorian in an old MM cob. I'm drinking water and looking at the uncut half of the lawn.

June 11th.p.s. This is for all the Cobbies in the group. With the heat going over 90 I find it hard to keep my briars from burning like a wildfire. The few cigars I bought have already ate a hole in the small monies and I just can not seem to find a balance with it all So it dawns on me, try the cob. Quickly finding out that the lowly Cob is the best answer for smoking in hot temperature. I filled mine with some innsmouth (c&d) and it was actually a very good smoke for a change. but the magic is at the heat of the day the Cob delivered a very good smoke that was much cooler than the briars have so far. I have never been a CobSnob, nor a cigar band critic yet I found a utilitarian side of the pipe that gives it a lot of value in certain situations. Given this epiphany, I felt to share and bolster the ranks of CornCob pipe enthusiasts. anyhoo,

Hot and humid day today, again. Started the morning with Haunted Bookshop in a MM Washington 5th Ave. Stuck with HB for much of the day, just seemed to work. Switched to Redburn in a Diplomat 5th Ave. when I went to see my Dad. Switched back to HB when I grilled chicken for dinner. Now smoking Sam's Flake in a Webco (Weber) Cutty.

They are very much utilitarian, but again, for me that's part of the charm. Having a dozen of them around for less than the cost of a nice briar, not feeling like I need to beat myself up if I leave one in the hot car all afternoon, or hanging out of my mouth while I'm working in the yard or the shop, just makes them great pipes to have around. I don't know if your a fan of Old Dark Fired, but I find that it is particularly flavorful in a cob.

It’s mostly been good luck at hunting them up or stumbling across them plus having been at it for a while. I still have the first Stanwell that I bought new about 30 years ago. I bought this one a few years ago from an estate dealer from Denmark who was at the Chicago Show. Plus, since there aren’t a ton of seriousDanish made Stanwell collectors and a lot of pipes out there, they are fairly inexpensive. For example, this pipe only cost me $70.

I love my Stanwells, even the newer Italian makes have been great smokers. Still have my first one also, though it's not nearly as old, it is the only briar that survived 2 periods where I started selling off my pipes.

Smoking some more Haunted Bookshop in a MM Washington 5th Ave. It's shaping up to be a summer of corn and burley. I will have to make a point of smoking a briar from time to time.
