June 7th. I decided to double post today. Mainly due to the wonderful virginia flake (c&d) and my dwindling stock of semois (tabac manil) in the wrecked stem cob. As the pipe bowl is working well with only the stem collapsing in spots the smoking of the cob marches on. So this is the second round of the flake i smoked in the cob. Its my super sweet secret treat but always leaves me burned a bit but so worth it for the delicate flavors. Having learned to slow the pace helps a lot. So mixing in a bit of semois seemed fun as well. I highly recommend anyone try that pairing. Nutty, buttery, sweet molasses, sweet cedar, slight hay and vanilla, soft sweet tobacco core under it all. low side of medium power to me. What a nice combination that lasted to the bottom of the bowl even nicer is how many more bowls I have on hand..might change the evening routine while the cob is around.

June 8th. Rain is forecast on and off today. Add in hot humid sunshine between storms and it will be quite hard to get a pipe to stay dry enough to get through a bowl. This morning is c&d burley #1 in the savi 515. I am happy with this blend. I read somewhere that c&d burley trended more to earthy flavors but so far this blend produces a nice nutty base. The blend has what I like, clean untopped tobacco with good flavor and good power.. not like kellys coin or old joe krantz which are powerhouses, or my lovely virginia flake which is mostly flavor. Burley #1 gives a good set of light flavors on top of a good medium power blend. right up my alley. on another note: Yes the cob has a charm and I will probably go down to washington mo. and buy one from the factory as the town in not too far away from st.louis. If the stem was a bit more durable there would be no issue with it so when the current cob goes away I will find one with a better stem. I found that smoking from a cob is good even on hot humid days. anyhoo, have a great day!

2016 Dunhill EMP in a MM straight general. Coffee on the side. Sun came up about 5:15. The hammers started on the new home being built down the road at 5:16am! I understand they want to work before the temp goes up towards 100F. It was only 60F at 5:30.

Started the day with Haunted Bookshop in a cob, with coffee in the backyard. Eased into the day slowly, but ended up getting stuff done. While weeding and mulching and trimming and bagging, I managed to smoke a few pipes - Haunted Bookshop, Three Friars, Bayou Morning and Redburn. All in the same MM Washington 5th Ave., the only pipe I took out with me today. Prepped some SG Sam's Flake and ODF. I'll smoke the one that dries the quickest next.
