C&D are Masters of all things Burley. What's your favorite C&D burley? Mine is Burley Flake #3.

I like all the Burley Flake offerings and Briar Fox but have veered more towards D&R Two Timer, 5 Brothers and Uhle's Blend 00 for straight Burley smokes.

If you’re referring to just burley blends then Haunted Bookshop and Pegasus for me. If I could choose a B/V blend: Exhausted Rooster, Three Friars and Night Train would be on my list also.

I haven't smoked many straight Burleys, but I'll second the 00 vote. Solani Aged Burley Flake is good, too. I've been wanting to try some of the C&D flakes, but there are too many of them. I get to looking at them and go into vapor lock and end up not buying anything.

I did try some of the C & D but it was not a durable relationship. Over time I came to the conclusion that Mac Baren are also pretty good with Burley leaf and their tobaccos agree more with my taste buds. Symphony, Golden Extra, Burley London Blend (which got me interested in the genre), HH Old Dark Fired (and the plug), HH Bold Kentucky and HH Burley Flake are among big favorites of mine.

I got 3 tins and put it in the cellar but have not opened one yet I am admittedly a sucker for the small batch blends, and especially when they have aged leaf. This blend sounds like it doesn’t need time in the cellar.

Charlie just trying to finish off some that I already have open before I open any more tins. You see I have this problem of too many open blends at one time. I am sure I am the only one that has found himself with this problem.

Old joe krantz is my go to c&d blend. Same here…. I really like OJK with some age on it. Brian Levine had a guest that was opining on different blends, and he said that there is no point in aging burley as the sugar content is so far less than with Virginia’s, that it isn’t worthwhile. I have smoked fresh OJK, and pulled out some 5 year old OJK to compare. That guy is wrong on the benefits.

I'm in the same boat, Charlie... I have had fresh and aged, and the aged blows the fresh out of the water.

My experience with C&D is even their aged stuff needs to be aged. In any case, I'm not a Burley fan. Burley in a blend is fine. It does a better job of balance than Cavendish, which to me is just filler. Haunted Bookshop and OJK are definitely no gos for my taste buds.

Most of their burley blends are harsh smoking to me except for the cube cut burley. I enjoy a bowl every now and then for a change of pace smoke. It's never been a regular.

I've recently tried Haunted Bookshop, and really like that one. Non C&D I'm also a fan of 4noggins Bald Headed Teacher. I have, however, just recently picked up the pipe again, so I'm still trying to figure out what I like now, what is not longer available, etc.

If I had to pick from C & D only, Morleys & Pegasus, in that order...otherwise Bald Headed Teacher leaves everything else standing in the dust, I.M.H.O. It took me a while to warm up to B.H.T. for some reason, but once I hit that "zone" ,I couldn't put it down. Still haven't tried O.J.K., but maybe I'll get around to it someday.

Oak Alley is an excellent burley But it requires 15 years of aging! At least that is what C&D crowed on the commercials when they released it. I have some in the cellar that is probably at the halfway mark that needs visiting.
