Happy Father's Day to all the dad's out there who have had a hardheaded, stubborn and down right arny son like me! Have a good one and good memories of the fine father figures who are no longer with us but we learned something valuable from them.

This is the first Father's Day without my Dad and it's kind of strange. Hard to believe it's already been almost 8 months since he passed. Personally, I've planted the hints that a Humidimeter would make a lovely gift for myself but won't hold my breath. Lol

That made it get very dusty in here. Not quite sure why.

I’ve told my kids they are my Fathers Day present, just a card will suffice. Waiting on a handwritten letter, it never comes, people don’t write anymore. Nothing better than that.

If your kids are like me Brad, I would be embarrassed to hand write a letter. With the advent of electronic communication, my handwriting skills have fallen off badly. I need to fix that.

You both make me sad. I require all of my students to write in cursive, and I was that parent who made his kids hand write Thank You notes to everyone for birthday/Christmas presents, etc. At the end of every school year, I give my "A" students a fountain pen and ink for it. At one time, I had pen pals on nearly every continent except Antarctica. I still write to quite a few of them. If you or anyone you know is interested in letter writing, this site is a good place to start. </end thread hijack> My progeny (I can hardly call them "children;" the youngest is 20!) pitched in and got me a smoker attachment for the grill they gave me last year. I'll be smoking a pair of pork loins (currently brining) and some ribs tomorrow. I'm hoping to grill some ears of corn, too. Maybe I'll have some time to fish with the 'kids' while the smoker is doing its thing. It should be a great day with my family. It doesn't get much better than this.

If I was in the neighborhood, I'd drop in to see how the ribs were doing. Hope you have a great day.

Charle rhymes with gnarly. My handwriting sucks, but the poetic possibilities that I possess are quite remarkable.

I never did learn to write very well but the only teacher I still am friend with after 25 years is my high school english teacher, go figure.

Happy Fathers' day to you all (assuming it is a day for fathers and not a father; in which case, happy father's day).
1 box of Ferrero Roché is coming my way. That's good enough for me.

My best letters were sent to me by my Father, he butchered the English language, but they were the highlight of my tour in S Asia, he thought I was in Norfolk, but I was many miles away. I wish I would have saved them.

I wish I would have saved them. My brothers and my sons all said the same about being on deployment. It was cool to get letters when stateside but they had real meaning when mail call came when serving on foreign soil.

I had a dream about my late father last night, and smoked his birth year (1930) Dunhill this morning.
Happy Father's Day to all you dads!
