I really enjoy rum aros. I’d like to hear your favorites and why!

I don't smoke any aro's but do like to cut a hunk off some GH Rum Twist to chew now and then.

There is only one, Wilke Rumcake. But I do also like several rum flavored blends.

I find pretty much any of the navy blends pleasant.

I like the navy flakes, the aromatics rum or otherwise, are more miss than hit. For those that do, there are undoubtedly some great rum Aro’s out there.

I concur on the navy flakes and would add GH Rum Flake. I also have to agree that most rum aros are not my cuppa tea. Taste like something from a chem lab.

Sutliff Spiced Rum. Very flavorful, sweet. Pleasant room note. A mixture of black cavendish, burley, and Virginia.

Navy flakes do seem to exist in kind of a gray area between aromatic and non-aromatic. To me, if it's got a topping I can detect as a topping, I consider it aromatic.

Way back in the days of mail-order, I used to get a blend called English Rum from John B. Hayes, of fairfax Va. Nice rum/latt blend , but what I got from it was a mind blowing blast of fresh yeasty rye bread, just out of the oven. I don't think it can still be had, but if anyone knows of anything remotely like that I'd love to hear about it.

Not to beat a dead horse but, I just got off the phone with John B. Hayes Tobacconist, and they do indeed still make English Rum. I ordered four ounces, and I would have ordered more, but I know how time changes the old taste buds, and how tobaccos can change...that sed , Mathew Hayes assured me that the blend was the same, So we'll see. If a rum flavored English with a lovely back-note of fresh baked bread sounds good to you, keep an eye on the thread

I have tried navy flake but couldn't detect any rum in it. I must check out what other rum blends are available in the UK.

Salty Dog plug gets my vote. Indeed! As of about a half-hour ago (my first taste of it), I agree! But, is it considered an aro?

Well gents, the reviews tell me that Dan's Salty Dog Plug belongs on my list of must haves. Meanwhile I've just finished the biggest part of a meer full of English Rum. It has a fine, creamy latakia quality to it ,plus a mild sweetness both from the grassy Virginias and the rum tobaccos...there is a very slight edge to it ,that dances across the taste buds now and then...my first thought was perique, but there's a whisper in the flavor that I wouldn't be shocked to learn was Turkish. The bowl burned evenly, with no fuss, down to a feathery ,gray/white ash, with 2 relights when I grew neglectful. The aftertaste is pleasant, and the pouch note is such that my sister-in-law, a non-smoker, wanted to eat a bowl. After only one bowl, I'd say it's not all I remember from thirty plus years ago, but it's a keeper, and one I look forward to ,in a briar from my daily string.

I have tried navy flake but couldn't detect any rum in it. I must check out what other rum blends are available in the UK. It also contains fruit and citrus flavoring so it makes the rum hard to discern. There's SG Navy Flake and G & H Rum Flake. I have not tried the first but did try the last. It's good but it packs a good dose of nicotine.

One that I forgot about (which is surprising as it's part of my Top 3) is McConnell's Scottish Flake. It is very hard to get nowadays but is, simply put, a grand smoke.
