I would guess they aren't counterfeit but the ingredients have changed due to lack of good tobacco. I have seen similar stories come up from time to time. Most recently I recall something about Condor being redone by some Polish company??
Some people will like it better and some will hate it.

There are some weird things about the tin, but i don’t know that it makes them counterfeit.

Crops change with the passing years and maybe the ability to source what was in the past cannot be had in the present.
As for changes in tins, I doubt there is enough money in counterfeit pipe tobacco to make it worthwhile.
Buy tobacco from an online retailer and you will be sure to get the real deal.
“ The 2 sellers who sold me the 'bad cans' did not take me seriously.(can't blame them, I am sure I look insane to anyone who does not smoke this brand)”
Where did this guy buy his tobacco from?

I doubt they are buying counterfeit tobacco. Someone has too much time on their hands.

well the first time you experience a blend you love changing radically can be very jarring, easy to understand the questions

well the first time you experience a blend you love changing radically can be very jarring, easy to understand the questions Sadly that is the story of so many blends. The name stays the same, and the recipe changes. It should if anything, be the other way around.

I wonder if the new laws regarding "new" tobaccos being taxed higher if created past a year (I forget what year they set on it) is a reason why little things change about the tobacco but the names do not.

Plus, if somebody was going to counterfeit tins, they wouldn’t waste the effort on low selling lines.

Received some tins only to find out that the blend had changed from a VaPer with Lat to a VaBur with Lat and no Perique. 😟

I have no idea what happened but the poor guy obviously really loves his Stanwell Melange and is fairly upset about the whole situation.

I don't think Melange is a very popular tobacco. I thought it was nasty. They probably couldn't get the ingredients and just threw in what they had to make something similar. Russ O or John Brandt/Jiminks can make a decent replacement for many popular blends, but no talent was wasted on this.

Reddit is a cesspool of frauds and misinformation I wouldn't be surprised if that OP is attempting to garner some rank on there and pull scams on some 'rube' and green victims He mentioned in another thread that he wants Churchwarden - and I quote '...that isn't made of glass" I mean wtf man, glass, this is tobacco not the waccky baccy

I have it on good authority that they ran out of key ingredients, Jiminks donated his foot callous scrapings as a topping agent.

The pipe tobacco subreddit is really the only one I visit, but less and less. The overall behavior on that site is generally disgusting. I posted briefly in their cigar subreddit a few years ago and it was so toxic and gatekeeperish that I just left. I won’t even start on their inability to not make everything a political issue or have some link to juvenile pop culture.

The so called “Gentleman’s Pipe Smoking Society” is another waste of time. I was on there, and was badgered by a trolling loser, and he had a few loyal knuckledragging followers to offer their… “yeah, what he said” comments.
The mods over there by their silence supported the nonsense even though the code of conduct forbids it.
I keep meaning to throw the GPSS T-shirt out, I will never wear it.
