As they are an hommage to the Captain Black tobaccos, I decided to try them as I am curious as to how they compare with the original classics. I placed an order for the Royal, Regular and Gold. I was wondering if anybody tried them and what their impressions would be?

“ they are an hommage to the Captain Black tobaccos”
If that is the case, I am betting that that MacBaren uses a higher quality leaf.
I don’t smoke either CB or 7 Seas, but I am interested in hearing others opinion.

I tried a tin of the Royal, and I preferred the Captain Black version.

The main difference is they use Viriginia leaf, for one thing which is not used in the CB series.

I have several different versions of it jarred that I haven’t smoked for a few years. I’ll have to pull it out sometime & try again. I liked it before, but my taste preferences moved away from aromatics. I only smoke them very occasionally now.

I was wondering if anybody tried them and what their impressions would be? I've only tried the Regular thus far and I thoroughly enjoyed it. My palette isn't sophisticated enough to lay out the profile for you, but I could see it being in regular rotation. I thought it had more real flavor than other aros.

Don't smoke either one of those right now, but have smoked 7 seas in the past. Tried CB, but frankly it doesn't compare to 7 seas.

I haven't smoked either, but I do enjoy Lane 1-Q (Captain Black Royal without the PG) occasionally.
