No, man. All my friends had Lincoln Logs, but we couldn't afford them. Ours came from garage sales and the Salvation Army store. We were so broke that our electricity was shut off more often than it was on We didn't have garage sales in our neighborhood.

Given the state of the world today, I suggest using unisex names for either gender. Think Taylor, Shannon, etc.. this way the child can be free to decide their gender at a later date.
I mean, if you want to be PC and all. ๐คช๐

A name should mean something. I've never understood the people who chose their childrens' names just so everyone in the family would have the same initials, but to each their own. A name, like any other word, has power & carries meaning. It tells something about the person, and will not only affect their self-perception but how others think of them, too. We chose our children's names intentionally. Michael means "Who is like God?" Joshua: "The Lord is Salvation." Our daughter wasn't supposed to happen or survive to full term. Her name means "precious gift of abundant life." Whatever you name your child, be mindful that s/he will live with it, and its baggage, their entire life. Make it mean something good.

Adolph has a certain cachet. Or Beelzebub. Considering how girls I've known named Chastity, Angel, Heaven, Faith, and other virtuous names have turned out, you may be on to something.

Fiona as in fee-ON-uh, or FEE-unuh, as in Ireland? And I always liked Roรญsรญnโ roe-SHEEN. Rosaleen. My first GSP was Roisin Dubh. roe-SHEEN doovโ โdark Rosaleen.,โ a name often used poetically for Ireland itself. The Irish pronunciation. I like Una too. I like Siobhan, pronounced "Shi-vahn" too.

I've always heard it pronounced "shee-hon". No you haven't. Yes I have. You are consistent in calling me a liar. I don't know what you've heard and you don't know what I've heard. Let it stop here.

Just that โBhโ in Irish is pronounced โvuh.โ I didn't say that what I heard was the correct way, but that it's what I've heard. People in different areas of Ireland have different ways of speaking and what they mean to say and what is heard by the listener can be very different.

If I were ya'll I'd take advantage of the poor tired out woman and help her out by registering the child yourself. No point in worrying her about these things.

I think kids are really cheated by most modern โtoys.โ They get Deathstars, Rock-Em-Sock-Em robots, and all sorts of fancy electronic thingies. Once he gets over the anguish of not being Captain America, give a six-year-old a box full of woodshop cut-offs from 2x4s and the remainders of making stair joists and then watch him go to town. The cultivation of imagination is in serious decline. Umm, I had Rock'em Sock'em Robots in the 60s. But, I get it. I also got a tool kit before I was 10 years old. Didn't know what to do with it, but it was cool.

I loved to play with the boxes when I was a kid. My favorite toy ever was a refrigerator box. Mine too. It lasted weeks. Mine was a washing machine box in the garage. It's ok, we were short back then.

Pick a name thatโs easy for someone to figure out how to hear and pronounce correctly. Wanna know why I go by Buzz? Cuz my given name nobody and understand without lookinโ them in the eye and sayinโ it r-e-a-l s-l-o-w-l-y. Itโs a pain in the keester. Do your kid a favor and go with Buster or something easy. Definitely not Sullen (if you get my drift)

With the advent of baby #02 on the way discussions have begun in my household on baby names. We do not know the sex of the baby yet, so we are discussing both boy and girl names. My wife is adamant about two names: Boy - Buster Girl - Suellen What are your honest feelings on these names? my top choices are: Boy - Mycroft Girl - Fiona Let me know your thoughts, or if you have any particularly striking names. I hate your wife's choices. Buster is OK for a nickname and "Sueellen might work in Kansas" but I doubt. Sounds like a way to make her tough. Why not call the boy Sue? Sounds like a Texan!!! Never looking to her own backyard before accusing others of bad taste...lol

Cora is a girls name you don't hear much anymore...it was my mother-in-laws name; even so ,it sounds good with Clem. If you get lucky and have twins, Cody is a good boys name. There's a prize for the winner ,right???

Some of my co workers' names baffle me. Velvetta? At first glance I thought it was pretty cheesy. Today I saw Styphanie in our system. That one hurt my eye.
