For me, I think my overrated was Lane 1Q. Oh man, I am in some heavy agreement with you Crusty. I had heard the hype and ordered a few ounces. So disappointed, both in flavor and in the way it smoked. Its always possible I just got a bad batch or whatever, but I got some tongue bite from it and I just found the flavor to be lackluster. |

Underrated, Voodoo Queen. roadsdiverged sent me some a while back, and while it's technically classified as aromatic, due to the Mocha Slices, I find it to be smooth, biteless, and tasty. Overrated, this isn't going to go over well with everyone, but Molto Dolce. Gooey mess that cannot be dried out by any human means. Smells great though. And I'll throw best deserving of it's hype in here too, most GL Pease stuff. The man knows what he's doing. Edit, even JimInks gives Voodoo Queen a 4 star review... |

Hot - Voodoo Queen, as always. I just love the stuff. The description sounded strange so I had to give it a shot, now I have several pounds of it stored away. I rarely smoke anything "flavored" or with latakia, but somehow this one always finds a way into my pipes.
Busted - 1Q. I find it very boring and something in it gives me cotton mouth like another plant that goes in a different pipe.

Here's a truly " busted " tobacco for you...
I retired back in 2019, and took a trip to Florida. While down there I stopped at a few tobacco shops...taxes and tobacco laws are kinda sticky down there ,so I figured something was a tad fishy when the smiling face behind the counter told me he had just packaged up some Lane tobacco for a sale...sounded like a big no-no to me, but I sprang for what he had labeled "LL-7"...this is a blend that I have never smoked ,or even seen.
Later , back home, I went to tobaccoreviews.com and found that the sticky ,all black mixture I was about to jar neither looked or sounded like the reviews on screen. Fast-forward to a few night ago, and my first try of whatever this is...still overly moist, solid black, a jar note to die for, but in the pipe it's somewhere between candlewax and fish oil.
I like to think that tobacco folk are all honorable, but I guess there's a snake for every henhouse.

Hot- Bald Headed Teacher, from 4-Noggins...rings all my bells , Flavor, aroma, mouth feel, burn rate, room note, you name it!!!
I like a good many tobaccos, too many in fact, but B.H.T. wakes me up, and puts me to bed as well.

The worst busted tobacco i have ever had was some 70 year old flake, i got a pound of it. I am sure it would have been good back in the day, but not being in a sealed container really degraded it.  ( the original thread I said that it was plug...not the case it was sliced flake) thebriarpatchforum.com/thread/859/find-dayI think that the under rated is Stokkebye Luxury Bullseye flake, Navy flake, and twist. For the price point and quality it is hard to beat. |
