We need a kickstarter campaign.
You all start ponying up about $100 a month apiece and I can be the globe trotting Goodwill ambassador for the forum.
It will in turn, pay huge dividends for you all as I share my stories in a thread...it will be like you were there without having to leave the comfort of your recliner.
I see that as a win-win for everyone!

Paddy, I'm betting you took those pictures. Beautiful part of the world. I did indeed. It's been great to revive my love for photography lately. Weddings sucked the life out of them for me.

I also love all the wide open spaces so many of you have. We have to cram everything into a very small space over in Ireland.

We'll set up camp early and decide which scotch pairs best with the blends we bring. I was an infantryman, so I don't mind sleeping rough, especially with a belly full of Laphroaig.

Central Illinois. Illinois farmland covers 27 million acres - about 75 percent of the state's total land area. Mainly corn and soybeans. I had fun with this one. Shot these with my phone this afternoon. Soybeans (and corn) as far as the eye can seen. Most soybeans grow ~18 - 24". These are easily 3' tall. And corn. I'm 6' 1" tall. And some sunflowers. And hay.

Not many grand views of the horizon, but we think it's beautiful here. Lots of lakes, ponds, creeks, swamps, low wooded hills, huge ranches, small farms, tiny cabins and shacks. Pretty country! I like the Court House. WHen you hang a man, give him a trial in a nice building so he remembers his last hours. There have been no legal hangings since 1895 in Cass County. There have been several illegal hangings that didn't have anything to do with the courthouse, but that's another story and I'm pretty sure that all that's behind us. Race relations seem pretty good these days, as far as I can tell. But you never really know what evil lurks in the hearts of men. People suck.

They would call that a trailer. A camping trailer, and wouldn't know what we meant by 'caravan'. Now that you say it, I'm not entirely sure what they thought a caravan was. I think older folk are more likely to know what we Brits mean when we say caravan; no telling what a twenty-year old would think.

Oh that reminds me of growing up on the Gulf Coast. Flat, hot, swampy. Riding dirtbikes along the bayou, sneaking grandma's cigarettes to smoke behind Piggly Wiggly.

bonanzadriver, I lived in one of the studio apartments on that street the summer after high school. Good times! I'm now about 1 1/2 hours away (other side of Charlotte).

Yes, that's a county road. Road 105 I think it is, AKA "the mail road." I haven't seen a 2WD pick-up in many years.

Hmmm.... ? Ima kinda thinkin sand is better in a bunker or on the beach! If you have to drive on it, wet sand is better than dry sand.
