I guess that it is good that I waited until I was old to start smoking a pipe. The excuse that having a pipe in his mouth made him hard to understand doesn't stand up to anyone who has spoken with Jiminks. Maybe he used it as a cover for other speech impediments.

Literary references to pipe smoking is what got me into the hobby, starting with Tolkien way back in the day. Even today, reading WoT, I smile when the men "thumb tabac into their pipes" or Rand's "anxious puffing made the bowl too hot, so he gestured by the stem.."
"If you must mount the gallows, give a jest to the crowd, a coin to the hangman, and make the drop with a smile on your lips."
