What have you found to be the best cutting board for cutting plugs? I've been using a white plastic one (do they call it melamine?), but I thought there might be a better option.

Wooden board works well for me and I really like the Ulu knife for control and ease.

Wood is easier on your knife edge, and since food borne transmission is not really an issue, I would opt for the wood cutting board. If you arenβt a germicidal Gerry, and use common sense, wood cutting boards are fine for both food and tobacco, restaurants are forbidden from using wood cutting boards, I believe.
When I worked at a meat processing facility, the butchers complained about not being able to use wood cutting boards after the rules changed, and they spent more time sharpening knives.

Mine is just a small bamboo board I picked up for a few dollars, with a cheap chef's knife. Would like one of those curvey jobs, just don't wanna pay stupid $$

I use a small, wooden cutting board, too. Keep it in the workshop, so there's no risk of ending up with garlic scented Salty Dogs.

I haven't smoked plugs in years. The last I did, I used my desk as a cutting board.

For some reason my wife has a large number of cutting boards, large and small. At one time I would grab one of those. When she found out what I was doing she banned me from the board. I now cut on one of those cutting mats you can get at Staples.

My Ulu knife and wood bowl from Alaskan Cutlery. Works perfectly for plugs. Nice looking Ulu. I like the lines the handle has. Simple and functional design for that cutting board. For those of you that are handy Woodcraft has a kits to make your own knives. As for making a small cutting board that's easy. Homedepot or Lowes has all of the needed material. Oh yea if you decide to use a finish I would recommend a food safe one. When I make a small cutting board I use a Butcher Block or Salad Bowl finish.
