Hello. I need advice on English/Balkan blends. I just ordered some 10 Russians, and I know it's a true Lat Bomb! Could you kind folks recommend some milder blends such as Westminister & the like. Please tell me why you like the blends you suggested. I'll need something a little milder I'm sure after the 10 Russians... Thanks for your knowledge and help. LeRoy (wncleewallace28466)

I have a boatload of English blends that I do not smoke much, but for my tastes, aging the Latakia tends to fade it a bit making it more enjoyable to my palate.
If you like English blends but don’t like the punch in the nose, I would recommend buying several pounds and jarring it to age. When the boom is lowered and the prices explode, you will thank me.
It will happen sooner than later.

If you freeze it in a deep freeze it will keep for at least 30 years. I've done it. And welcome to the Patch from Linden Texas! 😁 🤠

Early Morning Pipe is a pretty classic and well loved mild English blend.

adding welcome/greets from 50miles East of Buffalo, NY. Long timer at various forums/chats etc. A dedicated lata-holic for past 16years & fer sure, 10Russians is diabolical but luv the stuff. Only suggestion I can forward for "milder", recently working on gifted sample of C&D Byzantium. Cannot compare the "new" Dunhill Englishes as I recall the great original ones from the mid '60s. Hope you can eventually find to your liking
Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY at 80+, an expert at nothing on the subject but enjoy what I smoke

True...I had actually stayed away from it for a long time because some of my colleagues only smoked it because of its name. I can't abide that kinda stuff from them. Turns out it is a really nice blend though.

GL Pease Chelsea Morning is another to consider, not quite as mild as EMP and great flavor.

E. Hoffman's Spilman Mixture is a nice gentle English blend as well as their Distinguished Gentleman which I would descibe as an American English. Both available from Ewan Ries and smokingpipes.com.
