I just stumbled across this forum and thought I might hang around a bit and see what other pipe smokers are doing and discussing.

welcome/greets from 50miles east of Buffalo, NY. Only one here from that area. Really a "veteran" of various forums/chat etc since '01. Only smoke heavy latakia blends, all pipes have lucite stems. Long retired. Don't consider myself crotchety but off-center sense of humor forever
Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY 12/29/40...depends on others' definition of "old"! heh heh

Thank you folks for the welcome greetings. For Ronv69: Yes, I know about where you are. Just south of a lake, the name I don't know. I lived in Texas for about 8 or more total. Have lived in El Paso, Copperas Cove, Moody, Hillsboro, Whitney, Kleburg, and Mesquite. I moved back to Arkansas in 1980. I used to love Texas, (Best Honky Tonks and dance halls I have ever been in. But, I went back to Texas in 1994 for a visit and it was changed so much I didn't recognize it. At least all the places that were my old stomping grounds. But I guess that's just what happens when you leave a place for awhile. As someone said (Faulkner?) you can't go home again.
for just ol ed: I too love the latakia and prefer lucite, but most of my pipes are not.

Thomas Wolfe, not Ol’ Bill. Ah, yes. Thank you. Helps explain why my high school literature teacher developed a facial tic mid-semester.

Yep, that's the one. BTW, your avatar.....min-pin? Looks like it to me, but not sure. We're just a few minutes from several lakes. Lake of the Pines, Wright Oatman, Caddo, etc. Plus every mile there is a bayou, creek or river.
