I'm sure that all of you already know this already but I just discovered that Peterson Tobacco now has control of the old Dunhill blends. I was always a devoted Nightcap smoker, so when Dunhill ceased production in 2017 I was just totally lost. I tried many "Our Version Of" but none were even close with the exception of Milan Tobacco's "Our Version Of Dunhill My Mixture 965" which was faithful but still it was not Nightcap. I have been smoking it the last 6 years because even though it isn't Nightcap, it is still a very good English blend and I did occasionally smoke the other Dunhill blends when I wanted something a little lighter. But NOW I can order some of my beloved Nightcap from Smokingpipes.com and hope it is a true clone. It's about $14.00 a tin, so I will just order one for now and see what I think. The nice thing is that the tins look just like the Dunhills with just the name changed to Peterson. If any of you have already tried of the new Peterson/Dunhill blends let me know what you think. If they are true, I will order some Early Morning Pipe too. It's good with a cup of strong black coffee.

The old Dunhill blends are still being manufactured in the same factory. As you noticed, only the name has changed to protect Dunhill's luxury goods corporate profits and not offend their Elite customers.

As you noticed, only the name has changed to protect Dunhill's luxury goods corporate profits and not offend their Elite customers. Yep... We discussed it a few years back (2019), the 3rd post the deleted member nailed it. thebriarpatchforum.com/thread/7207/dunhill-tobacco-coming-backI forgot how oldandcrotchety Jesse lashed out at me in that thread. Some time after that, I think that it was Eric Stokkebye on Pipesmagazine podcast stated that even if they wanted to change the blend, they could not with the deeming regulations on the horizon. True, not the same as the Dunhill factory tinned tobacco in days of yore, but if you liked the Dunhill blends of the last 20 years or so, they haven't changed. thebriarpatchforum.com/thread/7207/dunhill-tobacco-coming-backAs for Latakia blends, I don't doubt that Syrian Latakia was used in Dunhill blends back in the day...maybe even when STG took over. But the stock of Syrian Latakia had been dwindling for years, now it is all gone. Frankly I am glad that STG got the rights, Dunhill can go to hell as far as I am concerned. They forgot who brought them to the party.

A lot of deja vu in that list. I don't miss most of the missing guys. It's probably better that most of them decided to remove themselves. Or got moderated off.

After rereading that post, it was Leonard Wortzel from STG not Stokkebye.
Smoke what you can, what isn’t available isn’t available.

Smoked Nightcap last night and EMP just a couple of hours ago. Both are absolutely outstanding. Glad you're getting your favorites back! And $14 a tin sounds nice. At the current fx rate I'm paying ~$20 over here.

As mentioned above, it is still Scandinavian Tobacco Group manufacturing these blends since 2004 or 2005 when they took over from Murray's.

Scandinavian Tobacco Group blended the Dunhill blends. They now blend the Peterson version of the blends. However Dunhill actually approved transferring title for the old blends to Peterson so it is a continuation of the same process. They just can't use the Dunhill name for the reason ronv69 mentioned, Dunhill is now a luxury brand, not a tobacco brand. Of course they are more than happy to take the profits from their pipes, which they slapped a 'White Dot' into the name to give them a degree of separation, and from their lighters. Of course those two products don't seem to have a social taint the way tobacco does. They don't make either one of those themselves either. I'm not bashing them (maybe I am), I own several Dunhill pipes and lighters. But I offer an interesting speculation. Several years ago I purchase a Dunhill limited edition pipe. This pipe commemorated Richard Dunhill who ran the company until his death at 90. It is a group 6 Shell billiard with a silver ring with his signature engraved. It was about the same time "White Dot" was added to the pipes and Dunhill ceased production of their tobacco under their own name. Also discontinued the sale of Dunhill cigarettes and cigars in the US. Not sure about the rest of the world. My conjecture is that as Richard Dunhill was an avid smoker, the #6 billiard was the pipe he always smoked, by the way, the family finally had the opportunity to get out of the tobacco business and took a New York minute completing their move to luxury brand status. Once the old man was gone, they could do what they wanted. Maybe I'm completely wrong here, but there seem to be several coincidences of time and I don't believe in coincidence.

Dunhill is now a luxury brand, not a tobacco brand. LoL! This is an old story but you're confusing two companies that share a history but split decades ago. Alfred Dunhill Ltd/The White Spot Pipe that's owned by Richmont and Dunhill Tobacco that's owned by British American Tobacco. Dunhill cigarettes are the worldwide leader in Luxury Cigarettes so anyone who says Dunhill turned their back on tobacco doesn't know what they are talking about.
I'd guess the reason BAT/Dunhill dumped the cigars and pipe tobacco is the same as why Altria dumped Nate Sherman cigars and pipe tobacco about 5 minutes after they bought the company last year.
