Hello. Besides aromatics, Lakeland blends & Deer tongue, etc.; will a strong Latakia blend like 10 Russians or Pirate Kake "ghost" your pipes? Also, do you dedicate some pipes for certain blends? Thanks, LeRoy

Yes and no...
Yes, latakia will definitely ghost a pipe, but no I don't really purposely dedicate pipes towards blends.
Having said that, for me, latakia is best enjoyed in a large bowled pipe, therefore by default my large pipes ended up being the Latakia pipes.

I do and donβt dedicate. But any Lakeland blends, most definitely get their own pipe.

I have one pipe that is dedicated to Frog Morton Cellar. I don't smoke Lakelands or M79.

I don't smoke the heavy Lakeland blends, but still dedicate a briar and a cob to GH/SG blends like Bob's and Best Brown (and a couple others). I had dedicated pipes for latakia blends, but most have been converted over to burley-virginias as I don't smoke much latakia these days.

My palate isn't experienced / refined enough to notice ghosting amongst non-aros. I only divide my pipes: Briar for non-aromatic, Meerschaum for aromatics, cob & clay for whatever I want.

I haven't really much noticed ghosting in my pipes, save for a a few pungent aromatics like C&D's Autumn Evening. I do tend to gravitate toward certain blends in specific pipes though. Mostly for bowl size and shapes. My Saseini prince has a shallow wide bowl that I tend to enjoy Va/Pers in. The larger deeper bowls for burlys or heavy Latakia/Balkan, and medium bowls for English.

I don't mind the "ghosting" as I enjoy all of the tobacco...for the most part.

I smoke Latakias and Virginias. I interchange pipes pretty frequently. I have never noticed ghosting from Latakia in any way. Latakia is simply another wood fired tobacco. Do you use different glasses for peated malts vs unpeated malts?
