Well, I eventually ended up reneging on my entire Sutliff bulk 20% order. I really only like the new Sutliff Crumble Kake tinned series, (which, is mostly the direction of Mac Baren ownership as I don't think they would have made tobaccos like this under old management) Edward G Robinson, and Mixture 79 (for it's classic-codger anise/vanilla/whiskey burley profile) and can never find any redeeming quality to anything else they make. It's majority black cavendish blends gooped in PG and flavored. The harder you look, it's like 50 blends of the same exact tobacco sold with flavor. It's overall, a serious TAD addiction issue for me. I have to regroup again to only stock up the blends I actually like and stop trying to give space for mediocre blends in my cellar just because they're on sale. Truth be told, there are about 25 solid blends that I'd rather have 20 pounds of each and forget the rest but I always cave to the addiction of hoarding up more for the tobacco apocalypse. So next I'll be smoking 2021 C&D Carolina Red Flake w/ Perique in a BBB Own Make Thorneycroft blasted zulu. I’m in a similar boat. The only Sutliff branded blends in my cellar are Cringle Flake 2020, Angler's Dream, and Court of St. James. Angler's Dream was blended by Russ O., made by Sutliff, and originally just branded under P&C. When it got re-released after being discontinued, the 5 lbs that I immediately ordered came in Sutliff branded packaging. Court of St. James is a discontinued Sutliff Private Stock blend which is a VaPer plus a bit of Cyprian Latakia. In the category of made by Sutliff, I like Country Squire 50th Anniversary which is a VaPer crumble cake.

I really enjoyed the Sutliff Creme Brulee & Peach Cobbler when I first came back to the pipe, but I just keep passing them by now. Guess the aromatic train has sailed for me...

I haven't found the Sutliff blends I've tried to be all that similar to each other. None of them contain black Cavendish, and they don't seem to be uber-PG'd. But none of them are aromatics. (Well, 507c supposedly has a topping, but I can't taste it as something distinct from the tobacco, so I don't count it.)

Friday Savinelli, I like the sound of that. So, it'll be a Savinelli Bruna Apple filled with Three Friars.

I'm gonna have to try the 3 Friars... It's burley-forward. A lot like HB, with a slighly different flavor profile, maybe a bit more tangy?

6/20 C&D Three Friars in an MM Let Freedom Ring 5th Ave cob.
Three Friars is a VaBurPer blend that is a best-in-show and fits neatly in the range of Haunted Bookshop, Old Joe Krantz, Pegasus etc and on the sweeter side. The burley keeps it from just getting too sweet and it gets much better with age.

GH & Co. Mixture #25 in an MM Rob Roy Legend. #25 was one of the very first blends I bought when I got back into it. It hasn't become a favorite, but I still dip into it. It hits the spot for me for a mild burley English mixture of just VA/burley/Lat.

Have you had Yorktown? I'd throw that in there as an excellent bready and sweet straight Virginia ribbon mixture of stoved red that's been restoved with bright, and then mixed with unstoved red. You get candy like pure Virginia smoke even though it has no added flavoring. It's a real winner.
